Regional Director

The Regional Director will work as Chalice Canada’s representative in Africa and will report directly to head office in Canada.
S/he will collaborate closely with Chalice Sponsor Sites and/or Directors of Human Development Programs in 5 African countries, as well as evaluate community initiatives and programs, and ensure the accountability and efficiency of operations and quality of services.
In the spirit of Chalice’s mission, the RD will promote close ties between Sponsor Site Directors & team members, local parishes, religious communities, lay leaders, government representatives and other NGOs. The RD will also troubleshoot and provide crisis management leadership for crisis situations that may arise.
The RD will also be responsible for the general management of the Regional Office (RO) in Nairobi, Kenya, coordinate all of the Sponsorship Program requirements, initiate annual planning, facilitate capacity building, and oversee financial management. All of this work will be done using a Results Based Management approach.
Regional Director Job Requirements
Master’s degree in Community Development, International Development, Social Sciences or an equivalent combination of education and work experience;
Work experience in an international development setting;
A minimum of ten years related work experience;
Extensive supervisory experience of a multidisciplinary team;
Experience in budget preparation and oversight;
Experience in developing and leading Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (M,D&L) processes;
Demonstrated proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite;
Extensive experience preparing and presenting reports;
Should be an exceptional team leader with excellent interpersonal skills;
Outstanding administrative and organizational skills;
Prior involvement in a Catholic ministry (paid or volunteer) and demonstrated comfort working in a faith-based work-place;
Respect for Catholic faith and values;
Prior experience working in the NGO Sector or community;
Excellent communication skills in English & Kiswahili, spoken and written;
Availability to travel frequently;
Knowledge of Kenyan labour Laws and regulations;
Work experience in other African countries;
Knowledge of another international language is an asset.
