Job Description/Responsibilities
The Regional Capacity Building Specialist will lead the planning, design and delivery of capacity building activities in disaster preparedness and emergency response in BRAC International (BI) operational countries in Africa and Asia regions. Capacity building will target both BI staff members, local and national stakeholders, implementing partners and communities. The successful candidate will be an experienced capacity builder and trainer who is able to innovate and develop new training approaches, methodologies and materials appropriate to meeting the demand for capacity building of different target groups in disaster preparedness and emergency response. Key Responsibilities:
Conduct Humanitarian Training Needs Assessment of BI staff and develop multi-year training plan.
Lead the planning, design and delivery of capacity building and training of trainers on disaster preparedness and emergency response.
Design and develop need-based and target group specific training modules, curriculums, handbook, participant manuals, presentations and other relevant training materials on disaster preparedness and emergency response.
Organize, implement and monitor the capacity building activities, training courses and workshops in targeted countries.
Review and analyze the latest national and global disaster and humanitarian context, policy frameworks and practices to fully understand the ground situation.
Develop system for responding to capacity demands, and design and implement training need assessment, calls for application to trainings, selection of participants for capacity building.
Identify, liaise and initiate partnership with national and regional center of excellence and training institutes to develop training courses, curricula, modules and materials, as well as to support and pursue a sustainable supply of capacity building activities for the countries.
Develop and maintain strong external relationships with peer organizations, partners, government agencies, and donors.
Work in close collaboration with BI other programmes work stream in the targeted countries to ensure coordination and synergy, and exchange joint learning on good practices for capacity building activities.
Experience Requirements
Master’s degree from any reputed university in Disaster Management, Humanitarian Response, Development Studies, Social Sciences or other related fields.
Develop and implement capacity building and training evaluation system and tools, and develop evaluation report upon completion of trainings on the basis of pre and post training evaluation and impact assessment tool. Educational Requirements:
Additional Job Requirements
10 years of experience in the field of training and capacity building including skills in training module and materials development with a bi-lateral, multi-lateral organization, Government or NGO, preferably in the areas of disaster management and humanitarian response.
Strong and proven skills on training facilitation and post training monitoring.
Knowledge and understanding of humanitarian crisis in the targeted countries and how it impacts on programme design and implementation.
An excellent understanding of the global humanitarian context, policy, frameworks and standards.
Ability to work as part of an international team (people from diverse backgrounds and cultures) and in partnership with other stakeholders.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and a high standard in English, both spoken and written.
