QSSK-LA-IM-IT Manager

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role also assists the Group IT Manager in managing the IT Infrastructure and operations within the group and is part of the IT Security and IT Committees.

Managerial Roles.

Manage IT Staff by recruiting, training, coaching & communicating job expectations
Providing direction to IT Team Members and appraising their performance.
Identifying opportunities for team training and skills advancement
Plan, organize, direct, control, monitor and evaluate the operations of information systems
Monitor IT Infrastructure Projects, budgets, priorities, standards, procedures, and performance.
Review the adequacy and allocation of IT resources (personnel, equipment, and service levels).
Seek opportunities for personal and professional development. Attend all company required training and actively participate in development conversations with managers.
Work closely with business unit to ensure that problems/issues are resolved, needs are met, and clear and open communication is maintained.
Analyze business requirements by partnering with key stakeholders across the organization to identify opportunities to improve and update software and systems/develop solutions
Oversee the implementation of IT Audit at the corporate level and ensures sufficient measures are in place to protect the systems, data, and other information assets
Works with Group IT Manager to develop and justify annual budget requirements and ensure cost effectiveness.

Operational Roles (Hardware, Networks, Applications & Security)

Installing and configuring Hardware, Software, Monitoring and Maintaining systems.
Responsible for day-to-day system administration, including management of internal network, VPN, Microsoft Active Directory (AD), MS-Office 365 Enterprise Management and system backups and all end point security.
Responsible for management of the rollout and support of Hardware, Applications & Productivity Tools
Identifies opportunities to simplify IT operations through continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure that maintenance requirements are met, and upgrades are scheduled on a timely basis.
Ensure that computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems including associated validation systems such as Scripting, Dictation, Fax, Email Servers, LIS and administrative systems
Provide network design, installation, monitoring, management, and troubleshooting for WAN and LANs including main locations and remote sites, ensure that Network Resources are available to the users.
Equipment’s Interfacing – ensure that all the relevant equipment’s and Applications used are properly interfaced and communication maintained between devices to avoid transcription errors in medical results and integration of LIS with clients/partners systems
Work with application development teams to define Systems requirements. Recommend procurement of information systems and enhancements to the infrastructure.

IT Project Management roles.

Oversee IT Infrastructure Projects, including the design and deployment of new IT systems, services, system updates, upgrades, migrations, and outages.
Monitor performance of information technology systems to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure.
Participate in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility and assist in developing solutions and policies related to infrastructure services.
Delegate project tasks to staff members based on strengths, skill sets, and experience.
Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, project costs and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis.
Manage the relationship with the relevant stakeholders and third parties to ensure all projects are delivered on time within the stipulated scope and budget.
Keeps the Senior Management informed of project status, emergent issues, and problems resolved, and general plans.
Perform other relevant tasks and duties related to fulfilling the duties of the role.

Backup and IT Security Roles

Oversees security planning and data center operations, including regulatory compliance; disaster planning & business continuity; remote system access & authorization; data integrity, system backup and recovery procedures; and required technology and application system upgrades and maintenance.
Scheduling upgrades and security backups of hardware and software systems.

Vendor Management Roles

Establishing & maintaining good working relationships with Customers, Vendors and other professional’s e.g. Software developers etc. Also ensuring contracts are kept up to date and cost maintenance strategies are assessed and analyzed on a periodic basis.
Approve and handle IT vendors used by the organization, Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC), Support agreements, Review meetings.
Obtaining competitive prices from suppliers, to ensure cost effectiveness.
Ensuring that software licensing laws are adhered to.

Office 365 Enterprise and MS Active Directory Administrator Roles

Maintain users as required on the MS AD and Office 365 environment.
Troubleshoot issues with identities and mail on MS AD and Office 365
Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of Active Directory and endpoint management tools.

General Group IT Support

Assist IT departments within the group to resolve escalated technical issues and queries.
Member of the CLA Group IT Council comprising IT Heads from across the continent.
Perform other relevant tasks and duties related to fulfilling the duties of the roles.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

Relevant Degree in information technology.
Strong IT Skills and net working knowledge.
Relevant training and qualifications in IT Infrastructure but not limited to CCNA, MCSA, AZURE & OFFICE 365 ENTERPRISE ADMIN.
5 + years relevant working experience.
Technical Knowledge of Laboratory information systems.
Laboratory standards operating procedures and processes.
Work Coordination.
Problem solving and Prevention.
Communication & Service.
Accountability.
Pre, Post and Analytical laboratory process and procedure.
Product knowledge.
Experience with various IT Infrastructure platforms such as, but not limited to: CCNA, MCSA, AZURE, OFFICE 365 ENTERPRISE ADMIN, and Knowledge of the type of events that both Firewalls and IT Security Systems, Project Management etc.
