Project Operations Manager

THE ROLE

The Project Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in driving projects and progress within the department. The right person for this role will thrive dealing with details and timelines, with excellent project management skills. They will ensure all moving parts of projects within the department stay on track, liaising with stakeholders and key contributors to ensure project success. They are able to think ten steps ahead and plan for potentially significant contingencies.
They will also be someone who is able to continually spot potential process improvements and implement approaches that enable the department to deliver services with optimum effectiveness and consistency. A background in effectively defining, tracking and reporting on key metrics and KPIs will also be of great benefit to this role. In addition, in the medium- to longer-term and once established in departmental workflows, the successful candidate would be willing to consider an organisational view on how project management approaches could be embedded across the organisation, and share best practices with other team members.
At the same time, they will be able to work alongside the Executive Director to think strategically about large-scale projects, especially those involving extensive stakeholder consultation and an intersection with governance, to plan out effective project frameworks.
This person will feel therefore need to feel comfortable working with and reporting back to key leaders within the organisation, including the Strategic Leadership Team and members of governance.
Finally, this role involves line management and budget oversight of the Operations Team within Fellowship Effectiveness, which provides underpinning services to the whole department (including the teams of Digital Effectiveness, Communications, and  Mobilisation).

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential Professional Skills and Experience

Exceptional written communication skills (in English) in creating clarity around project management matters
Exceptional time management skills
Extremely high-detail
Proven ability to provide project management leadership and services for a team
Proven ability to deliver with excellence within constraints of time and resources,while maintaining a posture of healthy teamwork
Ability to think strategically in planning and managing stakeholder engagement, considering the interrelated nature of a variety of factors and potential implications of actions and decisions.
Extremely strong relationship management skills
Confidence communicating clearly (in English) to a variety of stakeholder groups in order to ensure project clarity
Access to excellent internet connectivity is essential for this role, as are excellent digital skills and experience of using digital technologies relevant to the role, such as video conferencing tools, online project or task management tools, and collaborative document creation tools

Optional Professional Skills and Experience

Experience with line management and budget management
The ability to communicate confidently (verbal and written) in a language other than
English, particularly French or Spanish
A tertiary qualification in a relevant field
Experience working internationally, multiculturally, or multilingually
Experience working with virtual teams

Personal Qualities

Comfortable working in a Christian organisation with sensitivity to the breadth of church support that UBS enjoys
Willing to work flexibly across time zones and sometimes at times outside the standard working day in order to coordinate and attend meetings with stakeholders across the globe
Ability and willingness to occasionally travel nationally or internationally
Self-motivated, with enough personal confidence to be open to continuous learning and development
Setting an example by demonstrating an ability to manage one’s emotions and behaviours
Ability to work collaboratively, with good listening skills and the ability to explain complex matters simply
Evidence of an ability to inspire, motivate and encourage
