Project Officer – Adolescent HIV

Job Summary
The Project Officer – Adolescent HIV will provide technical support in the planning and implementation of Community-facility linkages, stigma reduction, adherence psychosocial Support, PHDP and retention activities required for HIV care and treatment services in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. The officer will also participate in planning and implementing the Red Carpet Project in Homa Bay County in the selected Red Carpet sites, through an all-inclusive and participatory approach to achieve the identification, enrolment into care and retention in care goals for Adolescents living with HIV.
Specific Activities
To conduct a baseline assessment in all red carpet facilities and write a report on the findings.
To identify, train and support the adolescent and youth counsellors who will support the newly diagnosed HIV positive adolescents and be enrolled into care.
Coordinate with SCASCOs to identify the red carpet facility coordinators and train them on the red carpet model of care to be implemented at the Red Carpet sites.
Organize and support health care workers training on Red Carpet Project implementation in RC sites in Homa Bay County.
Support existing adolescent support groups and facilitate formation of new ones in facilities without.
Ensure newly identified adolescents and youth are provided with the required PSS
Conduct monthly and quarterly performance review meetings for all the red carpet facilities.
Prepare monthly and quarterly, performance reports and share the same with the project manager.
Support the establishment of youth friendly services with regard to project requirements.
Site improvement and mentorship of HF teams implementing the Red Carpet Project.
Work with adolescent champions to enhance adolescent centered services in RC sites.
Capacity building of HCW and School based staff on the Red Carpet Model.
Play key role in Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement of adolescent services in Red Carpet sites.
Identify, document and share key lessons learnt and successes of the project.
Network with local organizations involved in adherence to ART and promote linkages between Health facilities and organizations providing HIV support services in their community.
Work with other TIMIZA 90 project and linked project teams and partner health facilities to establish and strengthen adherence systems within health facilities for improved quality of patient care
Ensure undertaking of Treatment literacy sessions for ALHIV in PSSGs within Red Carpet sites.
Identify best practices on Adolescent Facility linkages, Care and Treatment, Stigma reduction and defaulter tracing activities in Red carpet sites for demonstration of success.
Undertake other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Desired Qualifications
Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Social Sciences, Nursing, Public Health, Community health, or equivalent. A degree will be an added advantage.
Experience working in adherence, counselling and psychosocial support and community linkages in HIV care and treatment/PMTCT.
HIV/AIDS knowledge and related experience
Background in community development activities
Leadership and counselling skills
Good interpersonal, organizational, communication skills.
Able to work in cross-cultural settings
Ability to work effectively under pressure and to organize and prioritize competing activities
Ability to work effectively in a team oriented environment
Familiarity with the Kenya Health system, HIV Community programs, facility care and treatment program implementation and documentation.
Possess adequate facilitation, mentoring and counselling skills.
Proficient Computer skills (Ms Word, Ms Excel, Ms Power Point).
