Project Officer

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

Under the supervision and guidance of the Project Coordinator, the Project Officer will be responsible for ensuring that the GC7 GRANT project activities in Turkana County are fully implemented through provision of technical support and mentorship in accordance with World Relief International rules and regulations and donor requirements.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Area Activities
Project Implementation
Prepare and present weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports as per donor requirements.
Working with the Project Coordinator, co-ordinate and participate in the implementation of 
Actively engage in case finding through public-private mix approaches.
Represent WRI in forums/meetings with government, partners, and stakeholders on TB management.
Coordinate and conduct integrated outreach services and sample networking.
Work closely with Facility Health Workers, CHEWs, CHWs, and other community actors to implement planned activities and interventions.
Technical Support
Conduct sensitization and training sessions for Facility Health Workers, CHEWs, CHWs, and other community actors on TB Care and Prevention.
Monitor field-level activities of CHEWs, CHWs, and other community actors.
Provide technical support to ensure the quality implementation of project activities.
Capacity Building
In close collaboration with MOH teams CHMTs and SCHMTs, strengthen the capacity of Facility 
Health Workers and community actors through training and mentorship to effectively implement project.
Build capacity of the private providers engaged in the TB project
Monitoring and Evaluation
Maintain and update databases on reported cases for contact and defaulter tracing.
Participate in strengthening M&E systems applicable to health and TB programming.
Documentation
Consolidate community health  workers’ weekly reports and ensure accurate submission for  reimbursement by the project accountant.
Key in data into NAVISON and  ensure accurate reporting.
Produce weekly and monthly project  reports 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Education

Degree or Diploma in Nursing, Clinical Medicine, Public Health, or equivalent.

Experience

Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in the health sector, particularly in TB projects and  lung diseases.
Experience in donor-funded health projects, especially Global Fund projects.
Experience working in Arid and Semi-arid areas highly preferred.
Experience in community mobilization and working with MOH, County Government, and other  partners.
Prior experience working in Turkana County is an added advantage
Ability to work long hours in the field in remote locations required.

Skills

In-depth knowledge of Tuberculosis (TB) programming and M&E systems relevant to health and  TB in Kenya and globally.
Proficiency in ICT, including Microsoft Office programs.
Excellent communication, report writing, and analytical skills.
Strong project coordination, facilitation, and presentation skills.
Good interpersonal and planning skills.
Ability to work under minimal supervision.
Commitment, flexibility, and ability to multi-task under pressure.

Competences

Self-confidence, integrity, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
A team player with flexibility and commitment.
Strong initiative and multitasking under pressure.
