Job Summary
The Research intern will provide comprehensive planning and technical project support to our research team by assisting in writing quality reports during workshops, conducting field data collection, mining secondary data, organizing meetings and workshops and carrying out any other allocated role on project implementation. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Social Sciences, proven experience in healthcare research including qualitative and quantitative data collection, entry and cleaning and preferably working experience on health financing concepts. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
Report Writing & Documentation:
Help draft, edit, and finalize technical reports during and after workshops.
Collaborate with team members to compile and present findings in clear, concise reports.
Meeting and Workshop Support:
Organize and coordinate meetings and workshops, including logistics, scheduling, and preparation of necessary materials.
Take detailed minutes during meetings and workshops, ensuring all key points and decisions are recorded
Administrative Support:
Support general administrative tasks, including organizing communications and scheduling team activities
Follow-up with key stakeholders on the implementation of project activities and initiatives to monitor progress
Data Collection & Field Work:
Assist with planning and executing data collection activities in the field on need basis and ensuring accurate and reliable data capture.
Work with research teams to administer qualitative and quantitative surveys, conduct interviews, data entry, interview transcription, and data cleaning.
Secondary Data Mining & Analysis:
Identify, extract, and manage secondary data from various sources relevant to healthcare and health financing.
Assist in data cleaning and preliminary analysis to support research objectives.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the research team and stakeholders to ensure project deadlines are met.
Contribute ideas and suggestions for process improvements in data collection and reporting methods.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Public Health, economics or a related field.
Experience:
Preparation of quality technical reports
Strong interpersonal skills and integrity with experience of working with teams
Familiarity with health financing principles is an added advantage.
Prior experience in data collection within healthcare settings is required.
Skills:
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, Stata, R) is desirable.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.
Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in work.
Employment Terms
Contract Type: Temporary
Duration: 6 months
Work Hours: Standard office hours, plus flexibility for fieldwork as needed
Travel: Must be available for field visits and workshops as required.
