Project Engineering Manager

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee the Quality Assurance and Quantity Surveying (QAQS) Company chosen to oversee the general contractors and subcontractors.
Manage all renovation and maintenance related activities for the sites in Kenya.
Review and understand the project deliverables and budget in order to report against the financial health of the project and future budget projections
Oversee the selection of the General and Subcontractors based on a clearly outlined selection criteria and procedures.
Review the contracts and terms of the parties to be hired for better management and addressing any legal aspects with other team members.
Ensure they fully understand the stakeholder requirements in order to oversee the design, review, costing and implementation of the solutions on site
Oversee the solution design review, costing and user acceptance process before implementation on the site.
Oversee the day-to-day progress of the 4 Kenya sites being upgraded based on the disciplines required on site: Incinerator works, civil, plumbing and fire alarm systems.
 Make sure all contractors on site are adhering to the HSE requirements as clearly outlined by Amentum policies.
Review designs and shop drawings provided by the contractors for approval and sign off.
Work with procurement and finance to make payments to contractors based on site reviews.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: 

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other technical courses related to buildings.
Experience or certification in project management
Good communication skills.
Self-starter and creative problem solver.
Ability to review budgets and bill of quantities.
Ability to work with multifaceted engineering teams.
Ability to lead and work harmoniously with team mates
Ability to review site drawings, part specifications and construction works during the site visits.
Ability to resolve issues that may arise based on technical or interpersonal aspects of the work being done

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

3-5 years in the building industry with construction project management experience
3-5 years’ experience with Mechanical engineering, civil & structural, waterworks, HVAC and fire alarm systems.
3-5yrs experience in managing engineers or project sites.
Bonus/added advantage would be to have experience in working on laboratory based projects
