The Design Engineer / Project Coordinator will be responsible for the design, planning, and coordination of ELV, ICT, and AV systems within various projects. This role involves managing project timelines, overseeing project engineers, ensuring quality control, and interacting with clients and suppliers. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, excellent organizational skills, and the ability tdeliver projects within budget and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
System Design & Planning:
Design and develop ELV/ICT/AV systems, ensuring they meet client requirements and industry standards.
Calculate Bill of Quantities (BoQ) and drawing quantities.
Perform system comparisons tensure the most effective solution.
Coordinate with manufacturers tget the right solutions and design.
Project Coordination & Management:
Maintain and monitor project plans, ensuring that projects adhere ttimelines and budgets.
Ensure that work plans and project charters are in place and followed.
Oversee and manage project engineers, receiving progress reports and providing support as needed.
Conduct regular site visits tcheck the quality of work and progress.
Attend site meetings and assist engineers with site reports, valuations, and final accounts.
Ensure the timely collection of materials from suppliers or sites.
Interact with the main contractor and various stakeholders tensure project progress.
Manage the coordination of project resources, including casual labour, ensuring that work is performed according tthe project schedule.
Client & Stakeholder Interaction:
Meet with clients and engineers taddress any issues or concerns related tthe project.
Coordinate communication and project updates between stakeholders, engineers, and contractors.
Facilitate ICT division meetings and distribute minutes tall project team members.
Tendering and Documentation Support:
Assist in tendering processes, including pricing and documentation.
Attend pre-bid and bid opening meetings, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
Support the project team with payment certificate follow-ups and other administrative duties.
Ensure all handover documents are compiled accurately and assist with the handover process.
Financial Management:
Make project and manpower costing tensure that costs are kept within the proposed budget.
Ensure work on-site is completed on time and within budget or lower.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
A minimum of a Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
Experience:
5 to 10 years of experience in ELV, ICT, or AV system design and project coordination.
Strong knowledge in structured cabling, CCTV, access control, audio-visual, intrusion systems, videintercom, network switches, IPPBX, routers, and firewalls.
Certifications:
Prince2 or PMP certification is desirable.
Certifications from manufacturers in relevant systems are preferable.
Other Requirements:
This role is strictly for Kenyan nationals or individuals authorized twork in Kenya.
