Responsibilities:
Specifically, Project Assistant I will deliver on the following;
Liaison with the implementing partner under the project (SAPCONE), relevant government entities, school administrators, and community leaders in the implementation of the INUANA Project.
Development of draft conflict assessment report in close collaboration with civil society actors, County, and national government offices, in project implementation sites.
Awareness raising amongst communities on the right to education in Kenya, including sensitisation on the Basic Education Act, 2013, through a diversity of spaces, strategies.
Collaboration with the Project Officer – Livelihoods and Financial Inclusion, DCA Kakuma Office, in facilitation of meetings focused on financial inclusion, diversification of livelihoods at targeted communities in the project sites.
In close coordination with the Programme Officer – DMEP, the Project Assistant will support in the design and implementation of assessments, surveys, and other evaluation activities under the INUANA Project.
Support physical monitoring of INUANA project activities by the lead local partner under the project, SAPCONE.
Support the development of activity reports, draft project reports, and contribution to the review of project assessment and evaluation reports.
Under the guidance of the Communications Assistant, DCA Kenya, the Project Assistant will also participate in the development of communication materials including social media (SoME) materials, website articles and other project content.
In consultation with the DCA Procurement & Logistics (ProLog)staff, raising procurement requests, in a timely manner, to ensure effective project implementation.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
The ideal candidate should.
Have previous internship or entry level experience in implementing projects in a combination of livelihoods, child protection, access to education and financial inclusion sectors in the ASAL areas.
Experience working in Turkana County will be an added advantage.
Demonstrate interest &/or basic experience in facilitating trainings/workshops involving community members and government officials.
Have interest &/or basic experience working with national organisations as implementing partners, and government agencies as stakeholders.
Be fluent in English, Swahili. Fluency in Ng’aturukana will be an added advantage.
Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Environment, Conflict and Peace, or any other relevant field from an accredited institution.
Have an interest in learning.
Be willing to travel to different project sites.
Be politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact, and diplomacy
