Reporting to the Programs Manager, the Programme Officer will:
Lead and oversee the planning, implementation monitoring and reporting for the COVAW projects on Female Genital Cutting(FGC), Sexual and Gender Based Violence(SGBV) and other related interventions in Narok County, in line with COVAW’s strategic plan.
Ensure the implementation of the project activities in line with the proposal, work-plan and budgets.
Act as COVAW’s contact person with the community and other stakeholders in Narok including representing COVAW in relevant technical working groups and meetings, as assigned.
Provide legal advice to COVAW programs and clients including support and advice on GBV cases liaising with COVAW pro bono lawyers and COVAW’s community paralegals.
Training on GBV, referral mechanisms and related legal processes to the COVAW target groups including law enforcement officers, health workers and county government officials.
Oversee case management and client record management.
Identify, support and work with custodians of culture, community activists and paralegals on community mobilization approaches that address gender based violence
Contribute/ lead in the development of relevant project materials including IEC, policy and advocacy resources as required within the projects.
Prepare accurate and timely reports of all program activities and expenditures
Ensure that project monitoring is conducted diligently and qualitative and quantitative data management is done to ensure project learning.
Manage project budgets in adherence to donor and organizational rules and policies.
Undertake full operational responsibility over COVAW’s assets in use.
Flexibility and willingness to travel, work long and irregular hours.

Required qualifications and competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Law preferred
A practicing advocate of the High Court, with legal Practice/ representation and court attendance experience
At least 4-5 years of experience in community engagement including facilitating trainings and community dialogues, safeguarding and child protection issues
Project Management Cycle training and experience in managing GBV, SRHR and access to justice projects.
Specific experience in managing FGM projects will be an added advantage
Excellent reporting skills
Project budget management skills
Ability to demonstrate excellent writing and analytical skills including in research
Experience in stakeholder engagement including relevant government officials at national and county levels
Ability to work with diverse people and cultures
Ability to work independently, prioritize, set and meet goals
Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Self-starter, able to work independently but able to consult effectively, prioritize and handle multiple tasks including through delegation
