Programme Leader, Masters in Education

Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Dean, the Programme Leader (PL) provides leadership to all the faculty members involved in the programme to ensure quality delivery of the programme. A PL will be responsible for the academic experience of the students on the programme and for the organizational aspects of the programme that support this experience.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (A detailed Job Description [JD] will be given on appointment)

Coordinate the M.Ed. Programme.
Facilitate M.Ed. comprehensive written and oral exams.
Organizing educational workshops and seminars for faculty and students as well as outsiders. For example, principals of high schools, etc.
Promote the MEd program aggressively to make sure that the program will not only be financially viable but a best choice for those who are looking for a M.Ed. program.
Organize the classes and ensure that the students are attending class and lecturers are in class.
Make available to the lecturers an updated record of the students list.
Oversee the blended e-learning programme of the school.
Teach courses in his/her area of specialization.
Maintains appropriate course records and documentation and acts upon recommendations for course improvement as part of the quality system.

Qualification and Experience

 PhD in Education Administration (or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
 Minimum of 3 years of higher education experience which should be complemented by research and scholarly record.
 Experience with budget management, faculty and staff development and promoting college and community relations.
 Experience in supervision of Masters in Education Students.
 Experience in Curriculum Revision and Development.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 Demonstrated understanding of the College’s Mission, Vision and Practices.
 Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite.
 Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, students and the broader educational and professional communities.
 Strong work ethic particularly in following students who are writing their research projects.
 A record of academic achievement in the discipline meriting appointment.
 Good communication and organizational skills.
