Job Purpose
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Program Officer will be responsible for ensuring Komesha TB program activities are fully implemented through provision of TB technical support and mentorship within assigned counties in accordance with KCCB rules/regulations and USAID requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Project activities in the assigned counties;
Maintain a strong collaborative working relationship with the Ministry of Health, County / Sub County Tuberculosis, Leprosy and Lung Disease Program, County/ Sub County Health Management Teams, FBOs among other key stakeholders while ensuring County / Sub County activities and program targets are closely monitored;
Contribute to the achievement of high-quality results in accordance with Komesha TB targets identified in the work plan and performance monitoring plan;
Participate in development of the annual work plan, program monitoring and evaluation including development of tools, and use of data to inform program planning;
To comprehensively represent the Komesha TB at consultative meetings with County, Sub County governments, private health care providers, Faith based providers and other key stakeholders including Technical Working Groups, progress review meetings within the region;
Provide technical support to ensure quality programmatic implementation of the Komesha TB project activities in assigned counties and utilize project data to prioritize interventions and for continuous quality improvement;
Develop capacity of County/Sub County teams, diocesan health coordinators, facility and community teams to implement, monitor and report on grants awarded through provision of technical advice and mentorship;
Participate in capacity building activities, field visits and meetings with relevant partners and stakeholders to strengthen networks and partnerships within the region;
Participate in preparation and review of progress monthly, quarterly and annual reports relating to the project reports as per KCCB and USAID Kenya requirements;
Ensure project expenses including procurements are reasonable, allocable and prudent and spent in accordance with USAID rules and regulations, and support annual auditing procedures within assigned counties;
Participate in documentation of lessons learnt and best practices during Komesha TB Program implementation;
Ensure adherence to KCCB policies, guidelines and values;
Participate as requested by the Program Manager, in relevant external committees, partnerships and county TWGs;
Carry out any other essential tasks related to Komesha TB and General Secretariat’s goals that may reasonably be assigned.
Qualification, Experience and Skills
Bachelors degree in Clinical Medicine, Nursing or Public Health or a related field.
Masters’ in Public Health is an added advantage
>5 years of relevant professional and progressive experience in managing clinical programs preferably a TB/HIV program;
Proven record of excellent management, leadership and decision-making skills;
Hands on experience in project coordination, monitoring, reporting and documentation;
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with County Governments of Kenya officials, USAID, faith sector institutions, donors, NGOs, private sector groups and cooperating agencies;
Familiarity with USAID programming, rules and regulations and experience in managing USAID funded programs;
Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills;
Detail oriented, ability to work under minimal supervision
Highest level of professionalism and integrity
Good knowledge of Social Teachings of the Church
