Program Officer

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:-
Program Management and Coordination

Initiate, design and coordinate program activities at the branch.
Lead development of annual work plans and budgets in collaboration with the project team and relevant government counterparts to ensure accountability, accuracy and timelines of all project activities and financial deliverables.
Oversee project deliverables, ensuring report preparation of high quality and timely submission.
Oversee technical implementation and administration of the project
Ensure compliance with donor rules and regulations
Manage preparation and presentation of work plans, M & E plans and all reports
Create a collaborative, high participatory work environment that allows staff and activities to adhere to risk-management systems and adopt quick response to complex and high risk changing environments
Actively initiate and take part in Christian Emphasis programs at the branch level with liaison with the branch manager and head of programs.

Resource Mobilization and Fundraising

Take lead in proposal writing in coordination with the Branch Manager and Head of Programs
Develop new concepts and proposals

Facilitate partner engagement

Manage teams within and beyond Mombasa and provide technical assistance and back stopping when required.
Represent project in all technical, policy and programmatic fora
Ensure documentation and dissemination of findings, impact, innovations and lessons learnt
Identify funding and partnership opportunities (Draft MOUs for mutual partnership engagements) in liaison with the branch manager and head of programs.
Networking and collaboration with like-minded partners
Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time

Membership

Carry out membership drives in the community
Work with the membership officer to ensure optimum membership recruitment, development and retention at the branch.

Administrative Duties

Write reports and develop write ups
Responding to communication
Participate in program meetings

Research

Desk research on trending issues and possible YWCA intervention.

JOB SPECIFICATION AND OTHER INFORMATION RELATED TO THE JOB
Level of Education/Academic qualification

Minimum Degree in the field of Social science, Gender, international development, conflict management or a related technical field from a reputable university.
Experience in leadership positions involving direction over relevant gender, governance or SGBV programs

Other Requirements

Prior experience in supervising long-term field staff. Proven record of excellent management, leadership, and decision-making skills.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and navigate sensitive terrain.
Ability to manage different projects with different donor demands
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
