Position Overview
Based at Nairobi in Kenya, in order to build our team, we are currently seeking an:
Reporting directly to the General Manager of Puratos Kenya and functionally to Regional Operations Director, the successful candidate for this key function will lead the whole production process by coaching the team and by implementing Continuous Improvement Programs. He/she defines, realizes and improves the objectives related to HSE, Quality, Service Level and Cost.
Key Accountabilities
People Coaching
Selection, recruitment, induction and onboarding of new employees
Develop your people to establish a high-performance organization
Ensuring an ongoing learning and development plan for all employees
People performance management
Taking the lead and the organization of respective shifts
Instilling Puratos Magic throughout the whole organization
Project & Engineering
Basic understanding of Project management
Understanding of utilities (HVAC, Boiler, Cooling Tower, Air Compressor, etc.)
Understanding of AutoCAD will be an added advantage
Ensure timely commercialization of Brownfield projects with support from cross-functional team
HSE
Ensure HSE legal compliance
Cover the food safety risks (fit for work, personal hygiene)
Ensure safety of all employee in line with standard operating procedures
Drive behavior-based safety program
Risks assessments are in place and in line with local legislation
Effective control of contractors and visitors in place
Full safety induction for all newcomers
Maintaining a clean and hygienic work environment
Ensure full investigation and follow up of incidents ad hazardous situations
Ensure effective loss and waste process
Quality
Implementation and maintenance of HACCP, quality certification standards and 5S
Work toward achieving Golden Unicorn status
Work closely with cross-functional team to reduce external customer complaints
Master manufacturing processes (at source) to deliver Right First-Time performance
Ensure suitable problem-solving tools are used to complete CAPA’s
Service
Weekly planning of production and employees
Maintaining OTIF status by achieving conformance to plan and OEE target
Relationship building with key customers
Maintaining performance through continual reviews
Owner of ERP/MES within production
Ensure timely close out of technical issues impacting production
Costs
Effective budget control of the department
Report the results on a regular base (Site-meeting, BU-meeting)
Ensure that all functional meetings take place
Participate in Drive Project and benchmarking initiatives
Constantly reduce inefficiencies and not added value activities
Internal and external Relationship
Influencing of support departments (Engineering, Planning/Supply Chain, Maintenance, Quality, Safety, HR, R&D, BU, …) in order to pull in the same direction
Building network with peer Production Managers
Customers and suppliers: represent the Puratos production site during customer/suppliers visits
Profile
Industrial engineer Chemistry/biochemistry or food sciences
Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in the food industry
Experience with KPI’s and efficiency measurement
Knowledge of World Class Manufacturing and 5S methodology
Knowledge of complex production processes
Knowledgeable about Safety management
Knowledgeable about Quality Certifications
Strong Management skills
