Production Engineer – Intern

About the role
The Production Engineer’s Intern will implement and maintain systems to manage variability in the production process input and output parameters so as to achieve consistent, predictable and high performing processes.

Production information control: Circulation and reconciliation of production plan at all sections through visual controls
Shift Planning; Labour allocation through various sub processes with respect to man hour requirement to ensure > 90% utilization
Production monitoring: Tracking of key production metrics – (yield, cycle time, recipe adherence, labor utilization, machine utilization) and (process adherence metrics quality, health, safety, environment and maintenance adherence metrics)
Execution of Lean Daily management systems: – Leader standardized work, visual controls, Kanban, Gemba deep dives
Daily accountability process: Ensuring adherence to section level and plant level tiered meetings and push for quick escalation and resolution of process challenge
Inventory Management: Oversee the internal dispatch of materials, tools and equipment, movement of work with respect to daily schedules
Security Management: Oversee security management systems, staff and security committee management
Execution of people development strategies, coaching, CAPA, and Lean Management projects as assigned by manager.

Skills and qualifications you’ll need

An Engineering, Applied Science, or Science degree; preferred in Process Engineering or Industrial Engineering, Higher Diploma preferred. Certifications in process improvement methodologies will be an added advantage.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in plant management, process improvement, strategic planning and execution
Demonstration of an exceptional approach to supervising large and cross-functional teams
Team supervisory experience with an emphasis on developing team members through conducting performance management
Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and comfort with continually adapting plans
Experience in a startup and a multicultural environment is highly desirable
Strong interpersonal, communication & presentation skills (verbal, written) and the ability to build effective internal and external client relationships. Should have the ability to exercise tact, courtesy, and judgment in working with all levels of staff.
