Principal Librarian – Liaison

Job Summary:

Reporting to the University Librarian, the holder of this position will be responsible for establishing, developing and maintaining meaningful relationships between the library and the teaching departments in support of teaching, learning and research.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as a primary liaison to academic programs’ faculty and students, take initiative to identify and facilitate ongoing communication about their resource needs and service expectations.
Coordinate provision of in-house information literacy trainings and workshops for graduates, postgraduates, staff and faculty.
Provide guidance on publishing strategies, copyright, author rights, research data management and digital scholarship tools.
Create and update online library guides and tutorials tailored to specific subject areas, courses or programs.
Provide leadership in planning, scheduling and implementation of library marketing/promotional and outreach initiatives/activities.
Promote library resources, services and initiatives through presentations, newsletters and social media.
Formulate annual goals and objectives in line with the university library strategic goals and objectives in collaboration with the library management.
Provide in-depth research and consultation to USIU-Africa library users, through email, telephone, chat, and a variety of other media for individuals and groups.
Undertake all library tours and orientations for graduate students and faculty as part of user education.
Develop annual section budgets and reports that inform strategic and operational development.
Engage in professional development activities to stay updated on emerging trends in information technology, scholarly communication and digital tools.

Minimum Educational Qualifications and Professional Experience

Masters Degree in Library and Information Sciences;
3 years relevant library experience, preferably in an academic setting;
Proficiency in computer applications
Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results;
