Practical Action

Practical Action have an exciting opportunity for an Awards Officer in our East Africa office. This role will support the Business Development, Communications and Quality unit in the planning, securing and managing of Practical Action awards in East Africa. This role will work collaboratively with delivery teams to ensure compliance with donor regulations, contracting and building capacity amongst sub-awardees (including delivering inception workshops and conducting due diligence assessments), oversee project audits & reporting schedules, and develop budget forecasts linked to workplans.
The Awards officer has two main accountabilities:

Awards Management (Proposal Development; Contracting and Sub-award Management; Data Management; and Donor Reporting)
Delivering Performance as One Practical Action (Quality Assurance; and Risk Management)

An experienced professional, you will have excellent knowledge and experience in compliance, awards management or a similar role with additional short-term training in awards management, compliance or related area. You will also have experience in writing, reviewing and editing narrative and financial reports as well as developing budgets (with excellent Excel skills). An understanding of institutional donors and their requirements, (e.g. USAID, DFID, ECHO, GIZ, SIDA and large foundations) and development programming in East Africa is a key requirement. You should be a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Finance Management, Development Studies, Commerce, Economics, or equivalent area.
