Overall Job Purpose
This is an early career postdoctoral research scientist position and the incumbent’s areas of research will entail Immunometabolism, metabolic dysfunction, immunology work which involves direct visualisation of the mucosal tissue barriers and host target or effector cells.
Key Responsibilities:
Designing and conducting experiments to study the interactions between metabolism and immunity.
Developing and implementing methods for high-throughput metabolic profiling.
Molecular biology techniques such as amplification, sequencing and analysing DNA or rRNA
Immunofluorescence staining and microscopy of the tissue sections and flow cytometry
Performance of ex vivo explant experiments using human tissues
Maintaining accurate and detailed laboratory records and notebooks.
Assisting with the training and supervision of junior researchers, students, and technicians.
Collaborating with other members of the research team on projects and publications.
Staying up to date with the latest advancements in the field and incorporating new techniques into the laboratory’s research program.
Any other responsibilities that may arise from time to time
Required Academic Qualifications
PhD degree in immunology, molecular biology or related fields
Proven track record in immunology, metabolomics and/or molecular biology laboratory research
At least three publications in peer-reviewed journals
Competencies
High level of English language competence appropriate for scientific journal article submissions
Self-directed, highly motivated, adaptable and capable of adhering to important milestones
