Introduction

ISF is looking for a Professional Photographer to capture and document the areas of work related to its mandate for communications, advocacy and fundraising purposes. The images will be used for illustration in publications, websites, newsletters, social media and institutional magazines. Photographs may also be used by the media and other partners on request as a resource to portray the work of ISF in Kenya and Somaliland. The Photographer will follow ISF photography guidelines in the development of their assignment, which will be provided by ISF.
Objectives
Objective is to produce high quality (a) pictures and (b) video material, accompanied by relevant interviews, to support fundraising and communications in Finland with meaningful human interest stories for Finnish target audiences, including but not limited to government officials, stakeholders, private donors and institutional donors, development cooperation sector, media, and other relevant partners.
Obligations
The Photographer will visit the project areas in Kenya and Somaliland and photograph project beneficiaries (girls, females and males) as follows: horizontal and vertical photos of same subjects; dramatic angles; close-ups, midrange and wideangle shots; potraits, group photos and illustrations of ISF’s work (including lifestyle and landscapes).
Prior to each field trip, ISF will provide the Photographer with a detailed brief, up to a maximum of 2 field trips and briefs per year.
The Photographer will travel to the field accompanied with ISF staff members and/or partner NGOs. Photo opportunities will be arranged by ISF staff in collaboration with partner NGOs.
The Photographer is in addition expected to have a wider understanding of on-going ISF projects in the area and oversee that the brief is fulfilled. The Photographer can request additional photo opportunities where need arises in order to fulfil the brief.
The Photographer will:
Respect the privacy of the people being photographed
Explain where images will be featured (print, digital, social media) and ask permission
Act in accordance with ISF values.
In addition, the Photographer is responsible for:
All related official work and travel documentation.
Arranging a traveller’s insurance.
Managing and insuring own photographic and other equipment.
Following the safety regulations and code of conduct of ISF and partner organizations in the area.
Paying relevant taxes in accordance with Kenyan and Somaliland legislation.
the full compliance with the applicable laws and regulations in the field countries.
Photography specifications
All photographs and videos must be accompanied by:
Short description of the situation: what, where, when, who
Names of all people portrayed in the material, and
other additional information, such as age, occupation, short quote (to be specified in each brief).
All photographs will be delivered in digital format: TIFF and jpeg, with minimal retouching, print quality high resolution.
All videos will be delivered in digital format: MPEG4 or .MOV with no editing or retouching.
Obligations of ISF
Within the framework of the assignment, ISF shall:
Agree with the Photographer and provide, a detailed brief on expected outcomes and pricing prior to field visit.
Arrange personnel to assist the Photographer during the data collection.
Provide the Photographer with transportation to and from filming locations, and basic accommodation.
Be available for on-going consultation with the Photographer throughout the assignment.
Provide any material needed on projects to the Photographer in a timely manner.
Collaborate to ensure best outcome.
Copyright and Rights
The Photographer grants to ISF the following full usage rights of photographs and other visual materials gathered for the purposes of fulfilling the assignment:
For use in ISF digital publications and social media channels
For use in ISF print materials
For publication in other external media channels both print and online
For use in ISF fundraising campaigns and marketing materials both in print and online
For use in various donor and stakeholder communications
In the following territory: global
For the following time period: indefinitely
ISF will have exclusive rights to the materials.
Payment
This will be based on negotiations between ISF and the Photographer. All invoices shall be paid on completion of agreed upon milestones.
Qualifications
Required expertise, qualifications and competencies, including language requirements – English.
Photographer must have prior experience in photographing similar projects/activities.
Photographer must use own photography equipment capable of delivering high resolution files.
Photographer must guarantee timely delivery of photographs.
Photographer with bilingual skills (English/Dhivehi) is preferred.

Proven leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under limited timing would be an asset
