The role oversees the development, management, implementation, monitoring, reporting, grants management, and overall value addition of the peace program within the Network. They establish and strengthen partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders by building the capacity of the secretariat, members, and partners. Additionally, they represent Faith to Action Network’s faith-based peace approach in the sector. They also provide technical and programmatic assistance to the Network’s implementing partners. The role also develops and shares innovative knowledge, methodologies, concepts, and tools related to peacebuilding. They actively engage in peace advocacy and resource mobilization efforts. The Peacebuilding Technical Lead also offers technical assistance on conflict-sensitive programming to other organizational programs and projects and also at the institutional level. The role also assists the Faith to Action Secretariat with various program management tasks as needed.
Roles and responsibilities
Provide technical leadership on peace and conflict-sensitive programming
Research and share of cutting-edge technical knowledge and advice on current and emerging approaches in the area of peace and policies to inform advocacy strategies
Lead and provide technical guidance in peace programming and peace theory of change, including position papers, policy briefs and concept notes and contribute to network thought leadership in peace using Faith to Action Network approaches.
Ensure conflict-sensitive programming of all secretariat projects.
Conceptualize, lead and provide technical oversight on network secretariat, members and partners’ peacebuilding theory of change, models, methodologies, tools, research, approaches, strategic thinking and actions in new areas of work.
Responsible and accountable for establishing the network’s global technical leadership in peace by leading the design and implementation of effective technical assistance strategies on peace, justice and inclusion.
Proactively contribute to global discussions by leading and participating in peace building at national and international levels through participating in advocacy processes and providing technical support to Faith to Action Network’s advocacy team.
Project planning and Implementation:
Contribute to the production of program reports and materials.
Facilitate events, workshops, and seminars in consultation with partners.
Foster regular communication with project staff and local partner organizations.
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with relevant CSO partners and stakeholders.
Conduct analytical reviews and capture lessons learned from project implementation.
Provides both technical assistance and operational support to partners to ensure smooth continuity of the project activities including traveling to the field to meet with the partners.
Manage secretariat’s peace partners, contractors and champions, enforcing compliance with technical contractual requirements, review reports and lead evidence-based performance review meetings and decision making.
Lead and participate in managerial and technical coordination meetings of peace projects and consortia, and following up on action points and decisions arising from the meetings and trainings.
Network coordination and capacity development
Facilitate and support a strong learning and knowledge sharing community around peacebuilding and conflict-sensitive programming amongst members and partners;
Provide demand driven technical assistance on peacebuilding and conflict sensitive programming to network hubs which are national and regional working groups for Faith to Action Network members and partners;
Coordinate collaboration and information sharing with our international peacebuilding members and partners
Develop and implement capacity development activities for network members and partners, including developing and applying organizational assessments, training methodologies, offering technical assistance and organizing trainings;
Partnerships, advocacy and external representation
Ensure partnership and stakeholder engagement through the identification and assessment of strategic, technical partners and develop working relationships with them
Participate in identifying and designing advocacy actions with partners for influencing at national, regional and international levels.
Map out critical engagement spaces, provide linkages for partners engagements in the spaces and offer technical assistance to our members
Support implementing partners, members and Faith to Action Network secretariat as necessary in advocacy and communication around peace topics for external stakeholders – government, partners, etc.
Represent Faith to Action Network in advocacy spaces, highlighting priority issues from implementing countries.
Build partnerships and collaboration in peace networks and spaces.
Peace Impact and learning
Support the design and implementation of an impact and learning strategy for the Peacebuilding program.
Provide leadership in knowledge management by documenting secretariat’, members’ and partners’ peacebuilding interventions, identifying successful interventions and practices, drawing lessons and recommendations quarterly for improved programming and resource mobilization.
Biannually provide written documents of best practice from our members, projects and partners, Documentation of our innovations and models – Innovative tools, methodologies etc.
Provide external relations and communications content (for social media engagement, newsletters, annual report, bi-weekly alerts) to increase the organizations visibility and showcase results.
Support context/conflict monitoring that includes assessing risks and providing mitigation strategies
Resource Mobilization
Ensure peace programme sustainability by contributing to resource mobilization strategies as appropriate, providing technical input or leading on proposals related to peace.
Responsible for donor stewardship, managing and nurturing existing donor relations (including hosting donor visits, participating in meetings, providing information as required).
Manage compliance with donor rules and regulations of Faith to Action Network and its contractual partners, pre-empt problems, and advise senior management on solutions and recommendations.
Academic Qualifications and Certifications
Master’s degree preferably in Peace and Conflict Management, International Relations, Development Studies or any related field.

Experience, knowledge and skills
Professional Experience: Over 10 years of professional experience in peacebuilding, conflict management, and Freedom of Religion or Belief (FORB), including 5 years of project leadership in peace advocacy.
Expertise: Demonstrated solid expertise in peacebuilding, conflict management, and conflict-sensitive programming.
Program Management: Proven experience in managing programs and projects, including budget management, donor and partner collaboration, and a track record of producing tangible results.
Interfaith Peace Building (Added Advantage): Experience in interfaith peacebuilding approaches, considered an added advantage.
Conceptual Design: Proficient in conceptual design, knowledge generation, and documentation of peace-related initiatives.
Capacity Building: Demonstrated experience in providing capacity-building and training at both individual and organizational levels.
Ability to Prepare and Write Policy Briefs: Skilled in preparing and writing policy briefs to effectively communicate key insights and recommendations.
Moderating Dialogues and Facilitating Meetings: Proficient in moderating dialogues and facilitating meetings to foster constructive discussions and decision-making in diverse settings.
Multicultural Environment: Experience working effectively in multicultural, multilingual, and multidisciplinary environments.
