Role Overview
The Operations Manager- Fibre Optic is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of fibre optic networks. This role involves managing a team of technicians, ensuring the quality of work, maintaining safety standards, and coordinating with other departments and external contractors to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management:
Plan, supervise, and coordinate fibre optic installation and maintenance projects.
Develop project timelines and ensure adherence to schedules.
Coordinate with other departments and external contractors for project requirements.
Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to meet deadlines.
Team Leadership:
Supervise a team of fibre optic technicians and subcontractors.
Provide training and mentorship to team members.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
Ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
Quality Assurance:
Inspect completed work to ensure it meets technical specifications and quality standards.
Implement quality control procedures and maintain documentation.
Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during installation or maintenance.
Safety Compliance:
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and guidelines.
Conduct safety meetings and trainings.
Technical Expertise:
Stay updated on the latest fibre optic technologies and installation techniques.
Provide technical support and guidance to technicians.
Assist in the development and implementation of new technologies and processes.
Customer Service:
Communicate with clients to understand their needs and provide project updates.
Address and resolve any client concerns or issues in a timely manner.
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through quality service delivery.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Telecommunications, Engineering, Project Management or a related field preferred.
Relevant certifications in fibre optics or telecommunications are a plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in fibre optic installation and maintenance.
Previous supervisory or team management experience is required.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of fibre optic technologies, installation techniques, and industry standards.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with relevant software and tools (e.g., CAD, project management software).
Working Conditions:
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to various weather conditions.
Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call as needed.
Travel to various job sites is required.
