About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Health, Safety, and Quality (OHSQ) Officer to oversee our health and safety programs and ensure quality standards in the industrial sector with a focus on electrical and mechanical scopes. This role is crucial for maintaining our commitment to safe and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and enforce OHS policies and programs.
Advise and lead employees on various safety-related topics.
Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation.
Initiate and organize OHS training of employees and executives.
Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures.
Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g., not using protective equipment).
Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances, etc.
Record and investigate incidents to determine causes.
Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management.
Educational Requirements:
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational health and safety, Environmental Health, Public Health, or a related field.
Certifications:
Certified by DOSHS, IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent.
First Aid and CPR certified.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in an HSEQ role, with specific expertise within the electrical/mechanical scope in an industrial environment.
Required Skills:
Strong Communication Skills: Able to effectively interface with all levels of the organization.
Analytical Skills: Proficient at assessing complex environments and deducing risks.
Attention to Detail: Essential for identifying hazards and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Regulatory Knowledge: Extensive understanding of Kenyan safety regulations, compliance requirements, and standards.
