KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Provide technical leadership in nutrition related programming within the KFS activity in collaboration with other technical team, and partners, in an integrated manner in the context of the zones of interest.
Oversee the collaborative and proactive support to ZOI counties in the development and implementation of nutrition strategies, monitoring and evaluation and facilitating reporting on progress including promoting the dissemination of lessons learned and good practices.
Drive the team members’ collaboration with other clusters and programmes to ensure that NUT interventions are integrated in strategies on universal health coverage, primary health care.
Provide overall leadership on planning, design and implementation of the SC’s overall assigned programme objectives with respect to the donor agreement, Save the Children quality standards.
Ensure the timely completion of high-quality deliverables, according to agree upon work plans.
Ensure compliance with donor and SC regulations, particularly with respect to financial and contract management, budget and expenditure monitoring.
Provide line management to staff in accordance with the SC policies and procedures.
Maintain strong working relationships and communication with TNS, other consortium members, negotiating scopes of work, addressing requisite revisions in programme work, and addressing issues that may arise.
Maintain strong coordination with relevant I/NGOs, UN agencies, multilateral/bilateral agencies, county governments and private contractors implementing similar programmes, ensure complementarities and to avoid duplications of efforts.
Ensure adherence to agreed programme quality standards including M&E guidelines, value for money (VFM), gender/inclusion frameworks and provide technical support to embed M&E and accountability in consortium implementation, in compliance with KFS activity and SC procedures.
Ensure leadership in safeguarding and the implementation of safeguarding policies.
Analyse the potential risks related to the program implementation and devise/implement mitigation measures.
Contract Duration: 24 months
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Master’s degree and minimum of 10 years of experience in the management of nutrition and food systems and programmes, requiring multiple stakeholder engagement.
Previous experience leading the nutrition component on a large, complex USAID-funded program, preferably on Resilience Food Security Activity within the Kenyan context.
Proven track record in providing nutrition technical leadership/support to decentralized governmental structures and demonstrated expertise in coordinating with Governments, other partners.
Project management experience at senior level as Team Leader with reputable international NGOs, preferably on USAID-funded large consortia programmes.
Thorough understanding of gender/equality, protection and conflict mitigation issues.
Strong management skills and the ability to manage projects and teams with remote offices or team members
Excellent written and spoken English languages skills along with strong analytical, interpersonal communications and organization skills.
Commitment to the aims and principles of Save the Children. In particular, a good understanding of the SC mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support.
