Brief Description
Job Purpose Statement: The Network System Support Engineer will implement, manage, and support all Kenya Airways networks, communications infrastructure, and network security appliances. This includes the Local Area Network, Datacentres Networks, Wide Area Networks, Wireless Networks, Airports Networks, Data.Center Firewalls, Perimeter Security, Reverse Proxy, PABXs, Unified Communication and Internet Links.
The Network System Support Engineer will be the technical lead in all network-related projects ensuring that the implemented solutions meet business objectives. He will liaise with contracted network partners to ensure that the network is adequately monitored and supported within agreed service levels, best practices and industry standards.
Detailed Description
Coordinate and supervise the network and communications technicians’ team
Oversee network, security and communications support functions to ensure prompt resolution of incidents and servicing of user requests within agreed service levels
Design, configure, implement and maintain network, security and communications solutions Coordinate network, security and communications (including Radio) related vendor engagements.
Develop and circulate weekly performance reports to the KQ leadership team.
Lead technical project teams in delivery of network, security and communications related projects
Lead network, security and communications related problem management sessions.
Develop and maintain network infrastructure preventive maintenance schedule ensuring that all network equipment are periodically serviced.
Ensure that an up to date and accessible inventory of network devices, systems, configurations and services is maintained.
Ensure that network, security and communications equipment movement and changes in all KQ stations are controlled and documented.
Design and implement appropriate redundant links where appropriate, ensuring cost effectiveness and performance stability.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related qualification
CCNP (Routing, Switching, Voice, Wireless, Security) o Network security related such as CISA, CEH
5 years’ experience
Excellent people skills and have proper understanding of the Kenya Airways systems.
Able to diagnose network problems and sort them out with speed. Good in routing, switching, voice communications, network security and wireless as he will be expected to make changes and maintain the network as and when required
