ROLE OVERVIEW

Effective and efficient maintenance of computer hardware and software systems including the maintenance and monitoring of active data and voice networks or converged infrastructure and related network equipment.
Key focus is on network components within a company’s LAN/WAN infrastructure, VPN, Firewall, and Virtual Infrastructure networking technologies to ensure data integrity and efficiency.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Involved in the planning and designing of internal systems, data, and voice network architecture Ensures network resources and capabilities are up to date, documentation and development of network and systems disaster recovery plans
Oversees installation and commissioning of corporate LAN, MAN and WAN infrastructures. Conducts timely upgrades and optimizations of network systems, components, and peripherals Monitors all internetworking elements and KPIs and establishes interventions to ensure adherence to set SLAs
Ensures Network uptime (wired and wireless), availability, stability, and security and high availability of both Data and Voice Applications, ERP systems, Network Management Systems, Tools, and utilities
Performs periodic reviews of the virtual infrastructure network designs
Responds to and resolves network related tickets within set SLAs
Coordinates, implements, and supports R&D processes, POCs and other Lab implementations. Maintains network peripheral software, hardware and firmware upgrades; inventory, labeling and documentation.
Evaluates and tests design solutions against requirements and produces necessary test documentation. Provides Monthly Reports on Network Operational status
Plays a lead role in Network security planning and implementation. Secures network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access. Performs key tests on the network and provide management with reports on availability and performance. Troubleshooting and debugging decisions. Assignment and allocation of internetworking resources. Network Monitoring and Optimization.
Ensures timely delivery of Key Network Infrastructure projects and services. Ensures the network is optimized to provide high quality and availability of network services to customers.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Degree in a relevant field (Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Telecoms, Computer Science. IT) CCNA/JNCIA Certification essential, CCNP / UNIX & Security certifications advantageous
Minimum 3 years’ experience as a LAN/WAN network engineer in a global environment
Hands on experience on deployment and configurations of Firewalls, Routers, switches, VOIP phones and other networking equipment. Experience in troubleshooting network related problems and in using a variety of NMSes, Tools and Systems to monitor, troubleshoot, provision and support Network systems and services
Working Knowledge of IP services (IPv4, VPN, IPv6, Multicast, QOS, SNMP, VOIP, VTC, etc.) and a good understanding of security concepts, load balancers, and Proxy devices, and VPNs, Cisco Switching configuration and troubleshooting (VLANs, STP, Ether-channels), Cisco ASA (NAT, Access-lists, VPN)
Strong understanding of networking concepts such as OSI Model, packet architecture, security, authentication.
