Description:
To implement and execute short and long term medical goals and tactics, with an emphasis on pharmacotherapeutical aspects and with a understanding of business priorities
Provide medical knowledge and scientific update within the therapy areas for external and internal stakeholders & scientific information management and dissemination
Scientific collaboration with selected healthcare professional (External experts) within the therapy area with the objectives of educational programs
Competitor intelligence sharing with internal groups
Internal training and maintaining scientific expertise within the cross-functional team
Responsibilities:
External Experts (EEs) Development
Mapping and Identification of EEs in the country
Planned activity mapping for the identified EEs in the country
Speaker trainings
Identification of advisors for advisory board purposes
Assist in execution of local and regional advisory board
Ensure all activities executed with EEs are within the approved strategic communication
Facilitate publication activities
Facilitation between CRA/CRO and EEs on clinical studies/registries
Organization and execution of round-table discussions and peer-to-peer communications
Speaker briefing and debriefings
Establish scientific collaboration and develop strong relation with selected top EEs in the country
Demonstrate leadership in execution of medically owned activities
Internal collaboration and feedback/Tactical Planning
Provide medical input on development of brand tactical plans and the medical tactical activities and strategies based on knowledge of the specific therapeutic area
Ensure active communication with internal stakeholders cross-functional and within medicine around:
Share feedback of EEs internally e.g opinions on the data, view on the general therapeutic area landscape, Reactions to promotional activities/pieces
Competitor intelligenceMonitoring competitor information, activities, and publication
New management trends observed
Local epidemiological knowledge and new data on TA
Provide recommendations on potential new investigators to clinical operations
Scientific Information Management and dissemination
Presentations on updates in therapeutic areas, guidelines and disease management
Hospital/group/continuous medical education meetings and round table discussions
Slide deck preparation and review
Face-to-face discussion with EE
Objection handling
Handling medical queries
Lead the scientific discussion in the cross-functional team with internal and external stakeholders in the format require eg. Letters, meetings, etc
Literature search
Visits with health authorities
Payers scientific discussions
Formulary scientific support discussions
Support of Medical Information team in handling medical information to health care professionals
Internal training
Conduct required scientific training for Field Force & provide continuous updates through different forums
Conduct induction training (as backup trainer for medical manager)
Conduct Cycle meeting training (backup)
Serve as an educational source for sales reps, and internal cross-functional stakeholder
Review new relevant publications and new competitor articles and updates on new data on therapeutic area
Support E-Platforms across Therapeutic Areas and innovative programs
Scout and suggest innovative e-programs and platforms for departmental function and therapeutic area development
Maintain Scientific Expertise
Attending external national and international scientific meetings with EE
Updated with new articles in the relevant therapy areas
Screening of current awareness literature updates for the respective therapeutic areas of local data

Requirements:
2 years minimum experience in similar position
1-2 years’ experience in Diabetes
Medicine/Dentist/Pharmacy degree
Able to travel 50% of the time
Field base position (80%)
Based in Nairobi, Kenya
Fluency in English
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Advanced presentation and computer skills with expertise in literature identification and evaluation
Highly motivated & capable to learn large amounts of scientific content which is then communicated in a clear, concise fashion through letters and presentations
Intellectual curiosity about the field of science /medicine for which they are responsible
Ability to work effectively and share information within a team environment
Excellent self-management skills and ability to adapt services provided based on customer needs
Good understanding of business and commercial environment
