Mechanical Design Engineer

The Davis & Shirtliff Group is the leading supplier of water and energy solutions in the region. The group is Kenyan based and operates through a network of Kenyan branches as well as regional subsidiaries in Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Rwanda, South Sudan, DRC and Zimbabwe. The company has a total complement of over 800 highly trained and professional staff spread across the region and seeks to fill the position of Design & Documentation Mechanical Engineer at Nairobi Head office.
The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Designs & Documentation Manager and be charged with the following responsibilities.

Product Development, requirement elicitation and planning.
Preparation of new product documentation.
Preparation & interpretation of production drawings and customer requirements.
Support Sales teams in preparation of submittals for Industrial Projects.
Support Sales teams in preparation of costings for engineered solutions. Quality control and assurance.
Materials sourcing, ordering, preparation and usage monitoring for assembled products & solutions.
Observing Safety, Kaizen and 5S Initiatives within the department.
Coordinating complex projects implementation and new products

Qualification and Experience: –

Must have upper 2nd class degree in Mechanical/Production/Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent from a recognised institution.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a busy manufacturing environment.
Must be proficient in using CAD software such SolidWorks & AutoCAD.
Must be able to interpret engineering drawings with ease.
Knowledge and experience in any of the following will be an added advantage: Smart Manufacturing, Industrial Automation, PLC-HMI/SCADA/BMS.
