Role purpose and management structure
Our team is passionate about uncovering insights on the individuals we aim to serve, the consumers we need to reach, and working with partners to innovate around their needs. Effective marketing that generates demand, empowers and links individuals seamlessly to quality services is the central goal of this role.
This role will be responsible for strategy design and insights, investment proposition, and portfolio management related to marketing, tech-enabled D2C platforms and the digital transformation in heath to deliver our priorities across Adolescence.
Specific domains will include (but are not limited to):
Marketing and behavior change:
A fit-for-purpose marketing strategy and investment approach comprising above-the-line, tech enabled as well as below-the-line, off-line, peer-led channels.
Establish performance management standard to measure activated demand, empowered consumers and more responsive supply-side interventions.
Category management: Brand design and execution to support a shift towards self-care and consumer-led choice.
Build new platforms to link consumer demand to services:
Development of demand-led D2C platforms for delivery in multiple countries.
Strategic and operational oversight of these platforms.
Integration of new and existing user-controlled products and services from across the portfolio
Embed new standards for data collection, data protection and analysis of real-time beneficiary feedback/insights.
Institutionalise new KPI and dashboards: To benchmark performance across portfolios.
Digital transformation in health:
Apply cutting edge approaches to:
Consumer engagement and interactive content: Mobile-based content, telemedicine, online counselling, gamification, evolutive learning.
Data science: Internet of Things (IoT), Machine Learning and Behavioral Economics.
Validation: Face and voice recognition, biometrics where ethically appropriate (in partnership with EME), and digital marketing metrics (i.e. brand tracking, channel marketing impact analysis).
The role reports to the Executive Director, Adolescence based in London. It will directly oversee Manager(s) and Analyst(s), subject to performance and portfolio growth.
Strategy and planning
In collaboration with the rest of the team and across the organisation, design and regularly revisit and review marketing and digital strategies, partners and pipeline to ensure we are on course to deliver CIFF’ objectives.
Lead through influence – working cross-functionally and serving as a resource/mentor to managers/analysts from other teams and CIFF country offices and partners.
Oversight of team competence on the application of best practices and innovations in demand generation and digital strategies, advising, coaching and leading by example.
Programme development, delivery & performance
Oversight of a portfolio of existing programmes and an active pipeline of potential investments, with a particular emphasis on marketing, and digital strategies to transform the way individuals interact with and access information and services.
Ensure that all new programme proposals adopt a commercial, sustainable and innovative approach to permanently solving the most challenging problems in the sector.
Manage risk by upholding and applying relevant due diligence and risk management practices across the portfolio and at every stage, to ensure the interests and reputation of the Foundation are protected.
Assess the feasibility of investment proposals, using an appropriate range of methodologies and techniques, to ensure they are based on logical and robust conclusions which can withstand scrutiny from the ET and CIFF Board.
Working in partnership with the Evidence, Monitoring and Evaluation team, identify and embed appropriate monitoring and evaluation processes to all proposals and programmes.
· In collaboration with partners, conduct regular reviews of the progress and performance of programmes under delivery to identify problems and delays, and implement effective solutions
Sector knowledge, partner management and profile-building
Actively maintain CIFF’s reputation as a valued partner for achieving transformational and sustainable change in demand generation and digital tools.
Research solutions that creatively leverages CIFF’s balance sheet, and submit proposals for CIFF to place itself at the leading edge of innovation in the sector.
Contribute to the development of thought leadership and advocacy materials, to support CIFF’s ambitions to scale-up, mainstream and leverage additional support for its initiatives.Develop and maintain beneficial, global networks with governments, social enterprises, NGOs, other foundations, local civil society and beneficiary-led organisations
Qualifications, skills and experience
Extensive and progressive leadership in consumer marketing, and/or operation of tech-enabled D2C platforms, and/or digital marketing experience.
Practical application of digital strategies, ideally including IoT innovation.
Outstanding communication skills using a variety of presentation techniques.
Strong management skills with a background of leading, inspiring and empowering those working for you.
Knowledge and/or experience of working in emerging markets (sub-Saharan Africa and India desirable).
Whilst not essential to have sector specific experience, knowledge of developing youth-oriented brands and marketing strategies is particularly valuable.
Health sector experience desirable.
French language skills desirable.
