Managing Director

Job Function:
Formulate & implement strategies to grow and increase the scope of business and the profitability of IMS Kenya. Lead & direct the IMS Kenya EXCO so that all functions, in all areas, operate at optimal efficiency.
Key performance areas:
Strategic Planning:

Collaborate with IMS Kenya EXCO and industry (clients, customers, competitors, government etc.) to devise, plan and direct the implementation of the future strategic direction and focus of the business
Formulate strategic plan to achieve improvement & growth by commencement of new financial year

Client Interface:

Regular communication with senior management of client companies in respect of service provision, business reviews and query resolution
Senior management of client companies to be appraised of and fully aware of any service failures/successes.

Business Development:

Collaborate with EXCO members for exploration of changing market demands and dynamics, formulation of new business ideas, refinement of existing operations, and client market development and revenue growth
Improved revenue and margin growth year on year.

Service Refinement:

Ongoing review of key activity areas and methodologies to optimize cost and efficiencies.
Compliance with client SLAs and costs within budget constraints and profitability.

Process & Regulatory Compliance:

Ongoing review of systems and procedures to ensure alignment with Quality Management System (QMS) and validation of distribution centres to operate in.
Audit findings to be reduced and compliance to QMS to increase.

Operations:

Overall responsibility for physical operations in all areas of operational activity in all countries.
Service levels to be acceptable.

Human Resources:

Overall responsibility for corporate governance in human resource management and recruitment and development of senior business personnel.
Staff turnover to be at acceptable levels. Staff advancement and development to be sound & ongoing.

Finance & Administration:

Final review and responsibility for business financial and administrative performance, including corporate governance
No major findings in financial audits

Information Technology:

Overall responsibility for information technology development and performance
System functionality to be acceptable and updated

Health & Safety:

Final responsibility for employer compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act
System functionality to be acceptable and updated

Leadership & Delegation of Authority:

Lead the organization and delegate responsibility and authority to the EXCO in a clear and logical manner
Efficient implementation of strategic plans

Special Projects:

Final responsibility for the planning, execution, and results of all special projects
Projects must be delivered on time and within budget.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Engagement with senior management & staff; external stakeholders including clients, regulatory bodies & customers.

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

The Managing Director will be the primary representative of IMS Kenya in industry forums, councils and in representation to government and / or regulatory bodies and to the media if required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The IMS Kenya EXCO will report to the Managing Director who will guide and lead the business in strategic objectives and goals.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

Relevant degree
Post-graduate management qualification would be an advantage
10 years’ experience at senior management level
Strong leadership & strategic planning
Comprehensive knowledge and experience within the FMCG and or the Pharmaceutical industries
Effective communication skills at all levels
Indepth regional knowledge
Strong Commercial and Business Acumen skill set
