What you will be a part of
Saab Kenya is responsible for marketing and business development in East Africa. It is also operationally responsible for Support & Services’ operations in Somalia and providing business support to Dynamic’s operations in Kenya.
Your role
As Managing Director you will be accountable to the Saab Kenya Ltd Board of Directors for the overall leadership and management of the operations and resources of Saab Kenya Ltd, including the results and performance of the company whilst adhering to both Saab’s policy and procedures and regional legislation.
Responsibilities
Operations:
Develop, control and manage a 5 year strategic business plan that adheres to Saab’s main business plan directives.
Compile, control and adhere to an annual budget for Saab Kenya Ltd.
Control and management of Saab Kenya Ltd contracts in order to achieve financial goals in line with Saab Kenya Ltd’s business plan.
Control and management of designated contracts in order to achieve BA financial goals.
Design, implement and management of working directives to enable efficient and cost effective operations that adhere to both Saab AB policy and regional legislation.
Business Support:
Management of all administrative functions (Legal, Finance, HR, Security and OHS) in support of all business activities in East Africa.
Co-ordination of insurance policies for Saab Kenya Ltd property and personnel.
Maintenance of a strong working relationship with the BA contract managers, support representatives (Finance, HR and Security) and other key stakeholders.
Business Development:
Development of a business culture and business models in line with Country Unit SSA and MA MEA strategy and Saab CRM best practices.
Achievement of marketing goals and OI targets set by the Head of Country Unit SSA.
Production and execution of a Country Marketing Plan for designated countries in conjunction with Country Unit SSA strategy.
Production and execution of Capture Plans for identified business opportunities in Kenya and the UN in liaison with MA and BA stakeholders.
Where directed by the Head of Country Unit SSA, be the CSR for identified business opportunities.
Monitoring of the market place in East Africa and distribution of business opportunities to the appropriate CSRs and PSRs.
Establishment of a marketing and business development network in East Africa in line with the Marketing Plan and Capture Plans.
Maintenance of a strong working relationship with the Head of Country Unit SSA, BA points of contact and PSRs and other key stakeholders within MA MEA.
Other:
Management of CSR activities for Saab Kenya Ltd.
Staffing, training & development and maintenance of Saab Kenya Ltd personnel.
Maintain a strong working relationship with the Swedish Embassy, Business Sweden and other key Swedish stakeholders and representation of Saab in East Africa.
Adherence to Saab AB and Saab Kenya Ltd’s working directives.
Maintenance of an understanding of Saab’s organisation, portfolio, strategic priorities, ethics and business model.
Maintenance of a co-operative, motivated and constructive team ethos.
Implementation and co-ordination of risk mitigation measures for Kenya and Somalia in co-operation with BA Security and OHS Representatives.
Your skills, experience and Qualifications
The following are essential:
5+ years operational management experience in an international company.
5+ years marketing and business development experience in an international company will be advantages.
Knowledge of Saab’s Winning Business, Execute Business and Manage Project processes.
Knowledge of Saab’s security and OHS risk management policies and procedures.
Knowledge of African politics, environmental conditions and cultural awareness .
Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
A good command of the English language (verbal and written), Swedish will be advantages
Excellent communications skills.
Team player with leadership qualities.
Ability to operate in high tempo, complex business environments.
High premium on tact, subtlety, intelligence and flexibility.
Capacity for personal and professional development.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Knowledge of the UN and EU’s operations, policies and working practices desirable will be an advantage
Knowledge of Swedish foreign policy would be an advantage
