Maintenance Lead

Airflo Limited is seeking to fill in the position of a Maintenance Lead, to be based in our facility at JKIA, Nairobi. In this role, the position holder will be reporting to the Project & Maintenance Manager and will perform the following amongst other responsibilities:-
Overall purpose of the position

The Maintenance Lead will be responsible for ensuring that machinery, equipment, and facilities operate efficiently and are well-maintained to prevent breakdowns or operational failures. The primary role would be to troubleshoot issues, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure the smooth functioning of mechanical, electrical, and building systems.

Key Tasks
Maintenance Operations

Oversee the maintenance and repair of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Coordinate and perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the longevity and reliability of equipment and systems.
Respond to emergency maintenance requests promptly and efficiently. Perform facility inspections and coordinate necessary repairs.

Project Management

Assist in Planning and managing maintenance projects, including renovations, equipment upgrades, and new installations.
Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialised repairs or installations.
Monitor and report on the progress of maintenance projects, ensuring they are completed on time.

Safety and Compliance

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
Implement and enforce safety protocols for maintenance activities.

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings in maintenance operations.
Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
Collaborate with other departments to improve overall operational performance. Reporting and Documentation
Prepare and submit regular reports on maintenance activities, equipment status, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Maintain up-to-date maintenance logs, equipment manuals, and other relevant documentation.
Ensure a ready supply of spare parts and tools required for maintenance tasks.

Skills & Competencies

Strong leadership, communication, and team management abilities.
Proficient in mechanical and electrical systems.
In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in maintenance.

Educational background / Work experience

Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical & Electronics Engineering).
5+ years of experience in facility maintenance, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Knowledge of vehicle management.

Language Skills

Experience communicating in diverse cultural or work environments preferred.
Fluent in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
Must be comfortable explaining complex technical & procedural requirements in straightforward language.
Computer Literacy
Proficiency in Microsoft® Office Software (Excel®, Word, PowerPoint®, and others)
