Legal Specialist

Job Objective

To provide overall legal expertise and support on legal issues relating to the functions, structures and activities of the organisation, support management on issues pertaining to the legal framework and monitor compliance with legal corporate governance requirements for the WIOCC Group.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Support commercial contract function in reviewing and advising on the day-to-day contracting requirements
Support in the implementation of the various standard and non-standard forms of contracts in accordance with the set contracting policies
Negotiate with external parties and assist with the finalisation and execution of provisioning contracts relating to all areas of the business
Support and advise on any business development initiatives, e.g., partnerships, potential network acquisition projects and corporate/asset acquisition projects; preparation and negotiation of all documentation relating to cable investment projects
Support all bids – review and preparation of bid documentation
Supporting the business functions with legal services
Support in the debt collection and/or litigation
Support on the day-to-day contract lifecycle management

Minimum Qualification

Degree in Law within a common law jurisdiction.
Post-graduate diploma in Law or in any other field
At least 5 years’ experience in an in-house capacity or in practice

Experience & Skills

Self-motivated, proactive and able to work with teams in a multi-geographical environment
Strong organisational skills to operate effectively in a fast-moving and dynamic environment
Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to influence and form good working relationships at all levels
Ability to think strategically while managing the details and to make clear recommendations
Ability to speedily grasp the essence, content and implications of the group’s business
Negotiating skills and capacity to work with other professionals, including non-legal professionals. to develop innovative solutions to conflicting interests and positions
Experience in the telecommunications sector and technical legal drafting and assessment skills.
Organised, systematic and process-oriented with good administrative skills
A good working knowledge of Microsoft 365
