Our Client in the Insurance Industry seeks to recruit a Legal Manager for their Life business. The legal manager will be responsible for efficient and effective management of the Life Legal Unit and ensure the company’s interests are protected.
Reporting to: Head of Legal
Specification
Supporting the organization in managing legal risk by proactively researching and responding to various issues affecting the business.
Reviewing and advising management on legal implications of internal policies, procedures and other documents and ensuring that they are compliant with all statutory or legal requirements.
Providing daily interaction and advice to the departmental heads on all aspects of the Company’s business
Review and advise management on legal implications of internal policies, procedures and other documents and ensure that they are compliant with all statutory or legal requirements.
Manage legal risk within the business by taking responsibility for providing legal advice to the business on all legal matters affecting their individual departmental transactions
Manage litigious cases to ensure that all matters are handled efficiently and cost effectively Contract negotiation
Ensure that all contracts that the organization is entering into are negotiated within time and all the concluded contracts are entered into the organization contract register.
Legal oversight on all claims management matters including processes, systems, investigations, negotiations and court matters
Ensuring the Company operates within the laid down regulations and guidelines as far as claims are concerned
Overseeing all legal matters, including managing external legal counsel and providing regulatory liaison
Requirements
LLB Degree from a recognized University.
Advocate of the High court.
Active member of LSK.
At least 8years’ relevant work experience.
Desired Skills and Qualities
Knowledge in insurance products and services, preferably in Life business.
Knowledge of claims management/handling.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
A team player with initiative.
Ensuring the Company operates within the laid down regulations and guidelines as far as claims are concerned
Good coordination skills to handle the various tasks assigned.
Proven ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and as a team player in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment
Exceptionally good skills in the legal negotiation
Ability to draft and manage complex legal documentation
