Legal Associate

The Legal Associate will play a critical role in advancing NGLHRC’s mission by providing legal support, implementing programs, and engaging with stakeholders to promote and advance human rights. The ideal candidate will have a strong legal background, a passion for human rights, and the ability to develop and execute impactful programs.

Key Responsibilities

Provide legal aid and representation to LGBTIQ+ individuals facing discrimination, violence, or legal challenges.
Conduct legal research and draft legal opinions and policy briefs on LGBTIQ+ rights.
Proactively contribute to the day-to-day implementation of NGLHRC programs.
Contribute to organizing, planning, and executing NGLHRC programs.
Collaborate with partners and stakeholders to advocate for legal and policy reforms.
Research, plan, and conduct training sessions and workshops for stakeholders and community members.
Monitor and document human rights violations against LGBTIQ+ individuals.
Support fundraising efforts by contributing to grant proposals and donor reports.

Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B).
Admission to the bar is an added advantage
Minimum of 1 year of experience in human rights law, legal aid, or program implementation.
Strong understanding of LGBTIQ+ rights, constitutional law, and international human rights frameworks.
Excellent research, drafting, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Ability to work well in a diverse and inclusive environment.
