Legal Assistant

The role requires close monitoring of short-term deliverables while maintaining a strong focus on overall strategy and operational issues. Key responsibilities involve minimizing legal, operational, and compliance risks within the business, reducing reliance on external legal counsel for project work according to the approved

Key Accountabilities:
Governance

Assisting the Company Secretary in preparing and filing standard legal and regulatory
forms with the relevant government authority for Centum and its subsidiaries.
Assisting in drafting and timely filing of legal and regulatory communications.

Preparation & Review of Contracts

Drafting and reviewing simple contracts to ensure they align with business needs and applicable laws.
Conducting legal research to ensure accurate and timely advice is given to the business lines on legal matters related to their activities.

Fundraising Support

Collation and provision of legal due diligence documents.
Ensuring prompt execution of documents and monitoring the timely fulfillment of
conditions precedent and subsequent.

Company Secretarial

Assisting with logistical arrangements for board meetings, minute-taking and circulation of board packs to directors.
Correspondence with relevant government and regulatory authorities.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Law
Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a legal department
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Strong team player
Proficient in numerical skills
IT proficient
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
Capable of managing multiple priorities in a high-pressure environment
High aptitude and eagerness to learn
Self-motivated and driven to learn
