Legal Assistant

Job Purpose / Summary: Assist and provide a range of legal support and administration to the Legal function of Wananchi Satellite business.
Responsibilities for the Legal Assistant Job
Record and report legal documents including briefs, pleadings, appeals, agreements, contracts and legal memoranda
Build and maintain databases and files
Maintain a comprehensive law library and archive of summaries of all the above legal documents
Perform legal and factual research
Undertake records research
Identify relevant gazette notices, judicial decisions, statutes, legal articles, codes and other pertinent material
Organize and analyse information
Cross-check and validate information
Prepare written reports
Oversee preparation and closure of legal arguments, applications, and motions
Dispatch and follow through legal correspondence
Check and edit legal forms and documents for accuracy
Organize and track case files
Review and monitor new and updated laws and regulations
Co-ordinate law office activities such as secretarial assignments, regulatory returns or declarations
Help with case preparation including witness lists, and exhibits
Qualifications for the Legal Assistant Job
Diploma or certificate program in legal studies or equivalent
Understanding of basic legal principles and practices
Understanding of legal research techniques
Relevant computer knowledge and experience
