Legal Advisor (OMAO)

Job Summary 

Reporting to the Regional Legal Counsel, the Legal & Governance Advisor provides corporate governance and in-house legal advisory services to the Group.

Key Responsibilities:

Provision of corporate governance services including management of board matters
Provision of in-house legal advisory services
Provision of oversight and supervision over contracted external law firms
Review and monitor group internal policies and ensure that they are in compliance with statutory/legal requirements
Carrying out legal research and preparation of legal opinions and reports
Providing legal advice to various departments/business lines within the company
Participating in negotiations on commercial and business-related matters
Registration, protection/enforcement and monitoring use of intellectual property
Providing legal support for HR/employment matters
Providing legal advisory on corporate structuring transactions
Advising, Tracking and reporting on corporate and debt financing transactions
Support for the implementation of stakeholder engagement plans across the Group in line with the Stakeholder Relations Policy

Qualifications and Work Experience

Bachelor of Laws (LL.B)
Master of Laws (LL.M)
Postgraduate Diploma in Law and An Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
5 years post Admission
7 years in experience in commercial law practice
