Role Overview:
As a Laboratory Technologist, you will be responsible for performing laboratory tests, processing specimens, and maintaining accurate records of test results. You will collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure that all laboratory processes are conducted with the highest standards of safety, accuracy, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on patient samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.).
Prepare, process, and analyze samples in compliance with established protocols.
Record and report test results accurately, ensuring that reports are generated in a timely manner. Maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, performing regular checks and troubleshooting when necessary.
Ensure laboratory safety protocols are followed and that the laboratory environment is clean and organized. Participate in quality control and assurance activities to ensure the reliability and validity of test results.
Assist with the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Collaborate with medical professionals to interpret test results and provide recommendations.
Adhere to confidentiality and data protection regulations in handling patient information.
Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in laboratory technology and practices.
What We’re Looking for:
A degree or diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field.
Registration with the relevant regulatory body (e.g. Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board).
Proven experience in laboratory testing, sample handling, and laboratory safety (experience in healthcare is a plus).
Proficiency in laboratory software and data entry systems.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with medical staff and other departments.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
