Junior Chef

Duties and Responsibilities

Preparing vegetables, fruits and other food supplies under the supervision of the HOD F&B Kitchen or Chef de Parties
Food production for all food requests and other special requests in accordance with the Segera standards.
Ensuring proper handling and maintenance of all equipments within the department
Enforcing the highest standards of hygiene and sanitation within the establishment and the designated area of work. Clean as you work
Attend kitchen and staff meetings as scheduled
The rotation of all perishables on a daily basis, making sure that all containers are properly labeled, wrapped and stored
Once fully trained and confident in the tasks required, you would then be expected to assist in the induction of new staff into the kitchen, and ensure all standards within your area are maintained at all times.
Relieve other positions when needed
Work in all areas of the kitchen and apply all principles of cooking

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, the post holder is required to perform any other reasonable duties that may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

Food production should be done to the highest quality and standard of the hotel and the guests’ expectations.
Ensure that the reputation and image of the food outlet of the hotel be sustained and improved all the time.
Food service, handling and production should be done to the highest standards, thus creating a consistently high quality of standards
Maintain an excellent reputation in the eyes of the guest, management and staff.
To contribute to a contented, challenged and stable brigade.

The ideal candidate must have the following minimum qualifications:-

Relevant Diploma/Certificate from a recognized institution.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations
Basic computer skills will be an added advantage
Ability to remain calm and undertake various tasks
Excellent time management abilities
Ability to communicate well.
High degree of honesty, integrity and reliability.
Willingness to work long hours.
Ability to work well under pressure.
