Junior Battery Engineer

About the role:

We are looking to hire a Junior Battery Engineer who will be expected to work autonomously across multiple tasks and projects as the battery tech keeps changing rapidly. Their responsibilities will range from issue tracking and test scheduling, troubleshooting of battery systems, test bench set-up and test collection, battery handling, storage and safety management.

Key Duties and responsibilities:

Junior Engineers will be required to support Battery Engineers with day to day tasks when called upon.
Responsible for tracking battery issues reported by Product teams via the issue tracker.
Support in the troubleshooting of simple day to day battery related issues and faults.
Test bench setup and data collection during battery testing.
Expected to take up the responsibility of Scrum champion for the Battery team after Agile training where they will be expected to maintain healthy sprint etiquette, backlog management, sprint management and chair team retrospectives.
Documentation of Battery specs, data sheets and requirements.
Regular check-ins with external teams to ensure battery safety rules and regulations are met in-house.
Work with the battery lab technician to maintain and continuously update in-house battery handling standards and procedures and manage the storage and tracking of all batteries and charging units.
Work with the battery lab technician to set up test benches and support in data collection for the engineering team.

Qualifications

Holds at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronics Engineering or any relevant equivalent qualification.
Have experience working within the agile framework with practical experience of scrum using tools such as Jira, ClickUp or their equivalent.
Experience (at least 2 years) working in an engineering design and development environment, product development or test engineering in an electro-mechanical department with knowledge of electrical/ electronic system sizing, material science and system troubleshooting frameworks.
Experience working with Lithium-ion batteries is an added advantage.
At least intermediate knowledge or familiarity with CAE /CAD in the following areas: System Simulations (e.g using MatLAB or equivalent), Mechanical design/ Concept design (Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor, On-Shape, CATIA,or equivalent ), electrical/electronic circuit design (e.g. using Proteus,KiCAD, Autocad Electric, Solidworks electric or equivalent).
Ability to interpret 2D schematics for electrical and electronic circuits as well as mechanical 2D drawings.
Basic high level knowledge of intra-system, inter-system and data communication protocols and architecture (with focus on RS485, RS232, UART and CAN).
Ability to use general routine electrical laboratory equipment.
Ability to work individually and in a team-based environment and achieve common goals.
Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, multitask and prioritise appropriately.
Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on engineering research and test data and findings.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to design, organise, and coordinate engineering tasks and projects.
Fast learner, adaptive and agile.
