Over the last five years, we’ve built and deployed a lifesaving platform and assembled the largest network of ambulances and first responders in East Africa. Our platform has reduced response times by over 80% and saved thousands of lives from previously impossible situations. We are expanding our operations and looking for passionate, hardworking, and effective team members to spearhead this next growth phase.
We are 40+ business, finance, & ops specialists, software engineers, and emergency dispatchers based in Nairobi and operating throughout Kenya, with plans to expand rapidly to other countries. We are looking to hire a Junior Accountant to support our finance team with bookkeeping and day-to-day processes. This role reports to the company’s Head of Finance.
Here is what you will do:

Support with the day-to-day accounting of the business to help ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately, timely, and in compliance with accounting standards
Help ensure the books are reconciled and closed out in a timely manner each month
Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, including tax and statutory payment requirements in Kenya, as well as potential new markets
Support on projects to automate accounting workflows and reduce room for manual error
Support with closing out financial year-end and annual audit preparation
Contribute to a dynamic team and help support other team members as required

Requirements

BS degree in accounting or equivalent field
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Kenya or abroad
At least 2 years of relevant work experience as an accountant, ideally in a technology driven company
Detailed understanding of the Kenyan tax and statutory payments requirements (knowledge and/or experience working in additional African markets is a plus)
Direct experience working with Quickbooks Online through prior role(s)
Highly motivated, adaptable, self-starter who is committed to continuous improvement
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
Strong attention to detail and zero tolerance for a lapse in financial controls
Team player willing to jump in and support the team when needed
