JOB PURPOSE
The primary role of the Economic Empowerment Officer is to implement interventions that enhance the economic capabilities of young women survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) and those at risk,ensuring they have the necessary skills, knowledge, and resources to effectively utilize financial services as a pathway to dignified and fulfilling work and to enable them contribute to the economy.
SCOPE OF WORK.
The Economic Empowerment Officer will directly report to the Jasiri Fund Manager at CREAW. They will be responsible for:
Design and Implementation of program interventions:
Contributing to the development and implementation of economic empowerment strategies and activities tailored to the needs of women entrepreneurs.
Continuously engaging with diverse program stakeholders to identify key barriers to women’s economic participation and developing interventions to address these barriers.
Capacity Building
Supporting the organizing and facilitation of financial literacy training sessions, workshops for program participants.
Providing one-on-one mentorship and coaching to program participants to enhance their business skills and confidence.
Monitoring and Evaluation
Supporting monitoring and evaluation processes to assess the impact of the Jasiri Fund economic empowerment activities.
Supporting the collecting and analyzing of data to measure the success of the program and identify areas for improvement.
Preparing regular reports on economic empowerment activities and their progress and outcomes.
Stakeholder Engagement
Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including financial institutions, government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations on women’s economic empowerment.
Supporting the advocating for policies and practices that support women’s economic empowerment and financial inclusion.
Community Outreach and Awareness
Conducting outreach activities with diverse stakeholder ( Media, government, private sector, communities etc ) to raise awareness about the program.
Supporting the recruitment of young women survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) and those at risk to the Jasiri Fund.
Ensure diversity and inclusion in the program interventions specifically for persons with disability and refugees.
Safeguarding
Ensure compliance to the Jasiri program safeguarding strategy.
Ensure adherence to the Jasiri program Data privacy, protection and management strategy.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in economics, business administration, development studies, or a related field. A master’s degree is an added advantage.
At least 3 years of experience in designing and implementing women’s economic empowerment programs, preferably focusing on vulnerable and marginalized populations in far to reach areas.
Strong program management skills
Good understanding of economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, and gender equality issues.
Proven experience in providing training, mentorship, and support to women entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Excellent project management, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Knowledge of the Kenyan economic landscape, financial systems, and business environment.
Experience in fundraising, proposal writing, and donor reporting is desirable.
