DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Server Management
Overseeing Servers: Managing and maintaining physical and virtual servers, ensuring they are operational and secure.
Monitoring Performance: Continuously monitoring server performance to optimize speed and reliability.
Patch Management: Installing updates and patches to keep systems secure and up- to-date
Network Administration
Managing Network Infrastructure: Overseeing the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network components (routers, switches, firewalls).
Ensuring Connectivity: Ensuring network availability and optimal performance across all locations.
Troubleshooting Network Issues: Diagnosing and resolving connectivity issues and network failures.
System Backup and Recovery
Developing Backup Plans: Creating comprehensive backup strategies for critical data and systems.
Disaster Recovery Planning: Implementing and testing recovery plans to minimize downtime in case of a system failure or data loss.
Restoring Services: Leading the process of restoring data and services during disruptions.
Technical Support and Troubleshooting
Responding to Technical Issues: Addressing user-reported issues via phone, email, or in-person.
Diagnosing Problems: Identifying software, hardware, or network problems.
Providing Solutions: Offering step-by-step assistance to resolve technical issues.
System Maintenance and Monitoring
Regular System Checks: Monitoring computer systems and networks to ensure optimal performance.
Updating Software: Installing and configuring updates and patches for software and security.
Maintaining Hardware: Performing repairs or replacements for faulty hardware components.
User Training and Assistance
Educating Staff: Helping users understand how to use new software and hardware. Documenting Procedures: Creating manuals and guides for common issues and solutions.
Onboarding: Assisting new employees with initial setup and training on IT systems.
Security and Data Protection
Implementing Security Protocols: Ensuring that all systems are protected from cyber threats.
Monitoring for Threats: Keeping an eye out for potential breaches or malware.
Backing Up Data: Regularly backing up critical data to prevent data loss.
Inventory and Asset Management
Tracking Equipment: Keeping an up-to-date inventory of all hardware and software assets.
Maintaining Documentation: Documenting hardware replacements and software licenses.
Collaborating with Other IT Teams
Working with Developers: Assisting with testing and deployment of new applications.
Coordinating with Cybersecurity Teams: Supporting efforts to protect the organization’s IT infrastructure.
Any other tasks assigned by Supervisors/Directors from time to time.
Skills and Qualification
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
2-3 years of experience in an IT support or IT management role preferably within retail industry.
Any Microsoft infrastructure certification will be an added advantage.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of operating systems and Server Management.
Experience with networking administration.
Proficiency in managing cloud platforms.
Familiarity with IT security tools and practices (firewalls, antivirus software).
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with staff.
