Investment Manager PE, Access to Energy Africa

40 hours per week, duty station Nairobi, KenyaThe position has been opened to further strengthen our team to manage investments in Africa for a new fund vehicle focused on access to energy.As an Investment Manager you are responsible for the full investment cycle of equity and debt-based investments into companies active in the access to energy eco-system in Africa. The position requires frequent travel to countries within the region to present the mandate, for due diligence and for monitoring the investees. You will be based in Nairobi, Kenya. The position opens in Q1 2019.
Job requirements
This position requires a solid experience and track record of direct investments or M&A transactions in Africa. A solid background in the finance industry and managerial experience within operational companies of a combined minimum 8 years is required. Moreover, you have experience analyzing business plans and financial statements, developing deal structures and monitoring investments, ideally with exit experience. You have demonstrable communication skills and are able to disseminate knowledge and mediate between different views. Your negotiation skills are excellent and you are capable of representing the fund we manage. You feel comfortable working in a team spread across the globe, while independently developing new and managing existing markets.Specific desired competencies

Solid experience and track record of direct investments in Africa region, with some investments in early stage companies as a prerequisite (VC or growth).
Ideally investment experience with e-commerce, tech-enabled (e.g. digital) service and product companies or energy enterprises.
You ideally have an extensive regional network among financial advisors and other people/institutions relevant to the fulfillment of your position.
Management experience in operational businesses considered a plus.
You are fluent in English (both speaking and writing).
Knowledge of French, Portuguese or local languages is considered a plus.
Existing working permit considered a plus.
