Intern – Governance, Legal, Risk & Compliance Intern- Finance Intern – National Resource Development

Key Responsibilities:
The intern will work closely with the staff in the department while being exposed to the following areas to develop their skills:-
Support Board Administrative Governance Processes

Provide administrative governance support to the Board Support Staff to ensure seamless coordination and organization of Governance Processes and Procedures
Organization of Board Files to ensure safe keeping of the minutes of WVK Board meetings including supporting management of the National Office Governance database.
Assist in organizing Board Committee meetings and follow up on management action points arising from these meetings.
Support in coordination and organization of Board field trips to the WVK project sites to help deepen Board members understanding of WV’s ministry.

Support Board Legal Processes:

Update and maintain the Board and organizational membership register.
Ensure that all regulatory compliance issues of Board members are up to date.
Support statutory compliance issues with the NGO Coordination Board and completion of relevant annual returns for WVK.

Provide and Support Organizational Legal & Policy Matters

Support regular review of governance policies and procedures for alignment with partnership policies and national law.
Legal drafting and review of agreements, contract and other legal agreements such as organizational leases and MoUs etc. to ensure WVK’s full rights.
Monitor changes in relevant legislation and the regulatory environment to ensure that internal management policies and procedures for WVK are reviewed for relevance and effectiveness.
identify areas of criticality or high risk from a legal perspective and design contingency plans around each identified element.
Support in the audit process that regularly evaluates the legal position of the organization in regard to legal compliance.
Assist in and participate in the development of staff all contracting practices and procedures and compliance thereof.
Attend and participate in devotional life of the organization such as chapel, trans team meetings etc.
Participate and contribute in committees and task forces as may be signed from time to time.
Perform any other duty as assigned by the supervisor or Design Perform.

Eligibility Criteria
Those eligible to apply for graduate internship programme shall be Kenyan citizens who meet the following criteria: –

Bachelor’s degree graduates who either are beneficiaries of child sponsorship or have experienced the impact of WV’s community development in their homes will be given priority.
Graduates who show genuine desire and ability to serve among the poor in rural and semi urban areas of Kenya.
Graduates who are practicing Christians regardless of denomination, gender and ethnic background.
Graduates with demonstrated good character, honesty, high competency and generally in good physical and emotional health.
Graduates who are willing to commit their time on the project for the entire year.
Graduates who have completed studies in bachelor’s degree in Law, from a recognized university or related field of study within the last 1 (one) year.
