Intern- Gender, Sexuality, and Intersectional Justice

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Human rights monitoring: Monitor newspapers, online outlets, and social media, as well as reports from partners, daily.
Basic research tasks: With guidance from the teams, carry out desk research on specific issues and developments and share findings with the teams.
Database management: Maintain and update logs on human rights violations and abuses, as well as on individuals at risk.
Administrative support: Assist with tasks such as mailing, filing (electronic and hard copy materials), event management, and maintaining contact databases.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Interest in and knowledge of the economic social, political, and human rights context in East Africa and as relates to the rights of women and LGBTIQ+ individuals.
Background through study, work, or other experience in a relevant area, such as human rights, law, international relations, gender studies, political science, or social sciences.
Keen attention to detail.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and to multi-task.
Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Fluent written and spoken English and working knowledge of French.
