The main duties and responsibilities are:
Develop a project tracking management mechanism in IPMR from the point of project approval to project closure updating it regularly.
Provide technical support to the IPMR help desk by promptly addressing issues brought to the attention of the help desk by project managers and other users of IPMR data and preparing and maintaining a records log of support requested by project managers and needs addressed by the help desk on a weekly basis.
Provide quality assurance support for project data entered and submitted for approval in IPMR by project managers, to ensure that organizational guidance and policies are adhered to with the aim of improving data quality and use.
Extract and analyze UNEP’s entire project portfolio using IPMR data models and Power Bi for use in determining various corporate compliance ratings such as project monitoring and reporting, Geography and SDG tagging and project closures.
Provide technical inputs and recommend corrective actions to ensure data reliability through documenting data extraction methodologies, data standardization parameters and optimization of data use across multiple UNEP platforms such as Open Data and IATI.
Review and provide technical inputs to relevant project templates and their application in IPMR such as the project document and operational closure templates.
Conceptualize and deliver relevant training and capacity building to UNEP project managers on various aspects of IPMR, such as monitoring and reporting, project creation and closure. This includes preparing draft background documentations and presentations and consequently presenting them.
Communicate with the Umoja team in New York on future advancement of features in IPMR and b) through their ticketing system, register technical issues affecting use of IPMR for their resolution. Upon rollout of new features and guidance from Umoja team, provide technical training to UNEP project managers and other IPMR data users
Review and provide technical inputs to Quarterly Business Review (QBR) reports on project data, specifically on tracking statistics of UNEP’s different project portfolios such as GEF, GCF, OzonAction, Programme of Work.
Extract data and undertake analysis upon request to respond to audit and evaluation queries pertinent to IPMR data. The individual contractor will report to the Head of the Programme Monitoring and Reporting Unit, Policy and Programme Division.
Qualifications/special skills
A High school Diploma is required.
The years of experience is reduced by two for candidates who possess a Bachelor’s degree in statistical analysis, information technology, computer science, or project management.
A minimum of five (5) years relevant work experience in data and project management is required.
Experience in the use of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is required.
Previous experience in IPMR and related data models will be an added advantage.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position fluency in oral and written English is required.
