Instrumentation Engineer

The Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, installing, maintaining and commissioning   bespoke automation solutions. The role requires ensuring that these systems and processes operate effectively, efficiently, and safely.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instrumentation engineering, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Role & responsibilities

Design and Development:

Design and develop instrumentation and control systems for construction and engineering projects.
Create detailed engineering plans, drawings, and specifications.
Select appropriate instruments and control devices based on project requirements.

Installation and Commissioning:

Oversee the installation of instrumentation and control systems on project sites.
Conduct commissioning and start-up activities to ensure systems function correctly.
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and contractors to ensure seamless integration of systems.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

Develop and implement maintenance procedures for instrumentation and control systems.
Diagnose and resolve issues related to instrumentation and control equipment.
Perform routine inspections and maintenance to ensure optimal system performance.

Project Management:

Assist in planning, scheduling, and managing instrumentation and control activities within projects.
Monitor project progress and report on performance against milestones.
Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Compliance and Safety:

Ensure all instrumentation and control systems comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
Implement safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Participate in safety audits and risk assessments.

Documentation and Reporting:

Prepare technical documentation, including user manuals, maintenance manuals, and technical reports.
Maintain accurate records of instrumentation and control systems, including calibration and maintenance logs.
Report on project status, issues, and resolutions to stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement:

Stay updated with the latest developments and technologies in instrumentation engineering.
Recommend and implement improvements to enhance system performance and reliability.

       Training:

Provide training and guidance to junior technicians and other staff on proper use and maintenance of instrumentation equipment.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Relevant certifications or training in instrumentation or PLC programming are a plus.

Experience:

3-5 years of experience as an Instrumentation Engineer, Customer Support Engineer, Field Service Engineer, or Maintenance Engineer.
Preferably in the Power, FMCG, or Oil/Gas sectors.
