The University of Maryland Baltimore Global Health Initiatives through its operating arm Maryland Global Initiatives Corporation (MGIC) Kenya implements comprehensive HIV prevention, care and treatment programs to facilitate the Kenya Ministry of Health to control the spread of HIV and rapidly scale up HIV services, institute continuous quality improvement methods as well as the M & E infrastructure necessary to support these services.
MGIC Kenya is seeking suitably qualified persons able to fill the position of Human Resource Assistant to be based in Nairobi.

Reports to: Human Resource Manager
Location: Nairobi
POSITION SUMMARY:
Human Resource Assistant will support the Sub-award & Compliance function to oversee, ensure and facilitate the compliance with University of Maryland Programs policies and procedures, donor regulations and requirements for partners. She/ He will work with team members and implementing partner(KEMRI) to ensure smooth, efficient and effective sub-granting process that adhere to UMB Programs policy and donor regulations.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform monitoring visits of Sub grantees in KEMRI CRC, Kisian, Alupe and P3 in order to identify any areas of weaknesses.
Prepare accurate reports of the visits and findings.
To support Grants managers on recruitment related activities, ensuring that all recruitment, selection and assessment materials and tools are clear, relevant and appropriate; providing support on selection process and participating in the interview process.
To support performance management process per the University of Maryland Guidelines and KEMRI guidelines.
Manage employee leave records.
Manage employee timesheets.
Compile and updated employee records by ensuring proper filing of records, verifying contents of files to have the required documentation, i.e. Job Descriptions, Professional qualifications, requisitions etc.
Manage compensation and administration of employee benefits (Medical & WIBA- GPA covers for KEMRI Sub Guarantees).

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Academic & Professional Qualifications

Degree in Human Resource Management or its equivalent
Work Experience of a minimum 1 year, preferably in a Not for profit Organization
Sub award experience will be an asset
Be a registered member of IHRM
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
A good team player
Excellent communication and listening skills, including highly effective multitasking skills with the ability to coordinate and prioritize workload.
Good Knowledge of Kenya Employment law
